Predicting departure times in multi-stage queueing systems

چکیده
We develop an approximation model for the state-dependent sojourn time distribution of customers or orders in a multi-stage, multi-server queueing system, when interarrival and service times can take on general distributions. The model can be used to make probabilistic statements about the departure time of a customer or order, given the number and location of customers currently in process or waiting, and these probabilities can be recomputed while waiting at any point during the sojourn time. The model uses phasetype distributions and a new method to estimate the remaining processing times of customers in service when the sojourn time distribution is computed.

On Two-Echelon Multi-Server Queue with Balking and Limited Intermediate Buffer
In this paper we study two echelon multi-server tandom queueing systems where customers arrive according to a poisson process with two different rates. The service rates at both echelons are independent of each other. The service times of customers is assumed to be completed in two stages. The service times at each stage are exponentially distributed. At the first stage, the customers may balk ...
متن کاملCyclic Queueing Networks with Subexponential Service Times
For a K-stage cyclic queueing network with N customers and general service times we provide bounds on the n departure time from each stage. Furthermore, we analyze the asymptotic tail behavior of cycle times and waiting times given that at least one service time distribution is subexponential.
متن کاملMulti-Objective Lead Time Control in Multistage Assembly Systems (TECHNICAL NOTE)
In this paper we develop a multi-objective model to optimally control the lead time of a multistage assembly system. The multistage assembly system is modeled as an open queueing network, whose service stations represent manufacturing or assembly operations. The arrival processes of the individual parts of the product, which should be assembled to each other in assembly stations, are assumed to...
متن کاملDiscrete Time Analysis of Multi-Server Queueing System with Multiple Working Vacations and Reneging of Customers
This paper analyzes a discrete-time $Geo/Geo/c$ queueing system with multiple working vacations and reneging in which customers arrive according to a geometric process. As soon as the system gets empty, the servers go to a working vacations all together. The service times during regular busy period, working vacation period and vacation times are assumed to be geometrically distributed. Customer...
متن کاملSimulation and analysis of some dynamic priority schemes in two-class queues
In this paper, we analyse two important and relatively complex performance measures, tail probability and switching frequency, for two class queueing system with two different (relative and earliest due date based) dynamic priority schemes across classes. A simulator is build to perform such analysis and various observations are made. Based on computational evidence, it is conjectured that two ...
