Nonthermal phase transitions after inflation.

چکیده
At the rst stage of reheating after in ation, parametric resonance may rapidly transfer most of the energy of an in aton eld to the energy of other bosons. We show that quantum uctuations of scalar and vector elds produced at this stage are much greater than they would be in a state of thermal equilibrium. This leads to cosmological phase transitions of a new type, which may result in a copious production of topological defects and in a secondary stage of in ation after reheating.

Phase transitions from preheating in gauge theories
We show by studying the Abelian Higgs model with numerical lattice simulations that nonthermal phase transitions arising out of preheating after inflation are possible in gauge-Higgs models under rather general circumstances. This may lead to the formation of gauged topological defects and, if the scale at which inflation ends is low enough, to electroweak baryogenesis after preheating.
متن کاملInflation after preheating
Preheating after inflation may lead to non-thermal phase transitions with symmetry restoration. These phase transitions may occur even if the total energy density of fluctuations produced during reheating is relatively small as compared with the vacuum energy in the state with restored symmetry. As a result, in some inflationary models one encounters a secondary, non-thermal stage of inflation ...
متن کاملFirst-order nonthermal phase transition after preheating
During preheating after inflation, parametric resonance rapidly generates very large fluctuations of scalar fields. In models where the inflaton field φ oscillates in a double-well potential and interacts with another scalar field X, fluctuations of X can keep the φ→ −φ symmetry temporarily restored. If the coupling of φ to X is much stronger than the inflaton self-coupling, the subsequent symm...
متن کاملNonthermal antiferromagnetic order and nonequilibrium criticality in the Hubbard model.
We study dynamical phase transitions from antiferromagnetic to paramagnetic states driven by an interaction quench in the fermionic Hubbard model using the nonequilibrium dynamical mean-field theory. We identify two dynamical transition points where the relaxation behavior qualitatively changes: one corresponds to the thermal phase transition at which the order parameter decays critically slowl...
متن کاملQuantum Hooke's Law to Classify Pulse Laser Induced Ultrafast Melting
Ultrafast crystal-to-liquid phase transition induced by femtosecond pulse laser excitation is an interesting material's behavior manifesting the complexity of light-matter interaction. There exist two types of such phase transitions: one occurs at a time scale shorter than a picosecond via a nonthermal process mediated by electron-hole plasma formation; the other at a longer time scale via a th...
