ULTRACAM z′-band detection of the secondary eclipse of WASP-12b

چکیده
We present z′-band secondary eclipse photometry of the highly irradiated hot Jupiter WASP12b using ULTRACAM on the 4.2 m William Herschel Telescope. We measure a decrease in flux of δ = 0.130 ± 0.013 per cent during the passage of the planet behind the star, which is significantly deeper than the previous measurement at this wavelength (0.082± 0.015 per cent). Our secondary eclipse is best fitted with a mid-eclipse phase, φ, that is compatible with a circular orbit φ = 0.501 ± 0.002, in agreement with previous results. In combination with existing data, our eclipse depth measurement allows us to constrain the characteristics of the planet’s atmosphere, which is consistent with a carbon-rich model, with no evidence for a strong thermal inversion. If the difference in eclipse depth reported here compared to that of López-Morales et al. is of physical origin, as opposed to due to systematics, it may be caused by temporal variability in the flux, due to atmospheric dynamics.

WARM SPITZER PHOTOMETRY OF THREE HOT JUPITERS: HAT-P-3b, HAT-P-4b AND HAT-P-12b
We present Warm Spitzer/IRAC secondary eclipse time series photometry of three short-period transiting exoplanets, HAT-P-3b, HAT-P-4b and HAT-P-12b, in both the available 3.6 and 4.5μm bands. HAT-P-3b and HAT-P-4b are Jupiter-mass, objects orbiting an early K and an early G dwarf stars, respectively. For HAT-P-3b we find eclipse depths of 0.112% −0.030% (3.6μm) and 0.094% +0.016% −0.009% (4.5μm...
متن کاملKs-band secondary eclipses of WASP-19b and WASP-43b with the Anglo-Australian Telescope
We report new Ks-band secondary eclipse observations for the hot-Jupiters WASP-19b and WASP-43b. Using the IRIS2 infrared camera on the Anglo-Australian Telescope (AAT), we measured significant secondary eclipses for both planets, with depths of 0.287+0.020 −0.020 per cent and 0.181+0.027 −0.027 per cent for WASP-19b and WASP-43b, respectively. We compare the observations to atmosphere models f...

متن کاملInfrared Eclipses of the Strongly Irradiated Planet Wasp-33b, and Oscillations of Its Host Star
We observe two secondary eclipses of the strongly irradiated transiting planet WASP-33b, in the Ks band at 2.15μm, and one secondary eclipse each at 3.6μm and 4.5μm using Warm Spitzer. This planet orbits an A5V δ-Scuti star that is known to exhibit low amplitude non-radial p-mode oscillations at about 0.1% semi-amplitude. We detect stellar oscillations in all of our infrared eclipse data, and a...
