Classification of Industrial Energy Management Practices: A case study of a Swedish foundry
نویسندگان
چکیده
Environmental concerns, stricter legislation and inflated energy costs together yield improved energy efficiency as an important pillar in every industrial sector. Mindful of this challenge, energy management and its related practices are deemed to be one of the major instruments to improve energy efficiency within manufacturing companies. Despite the importance of this issue, there is no precise and unanimous definition for energy management practices. Moreover, very few papers investigate energy efficiency opportunities and/or energy management practices in foundry industry. This paper aims to identify, classify and characterize energy management practices through their definition, with respect to energy efficiency, that could take place in a foundry industry. © 2015 The Authors. Energy management practices in Swedish energy-intensive industries,
Previous studies point out a large (untapped) potential for energy efficiency in industry through the adoption of energy management practices. The aim of this paper is to describe and analyze energy management practices in two different Swedish energyintensive industries: the pulp and paper industry and the foundry industry. The results show that one third of the studied mills and about two fif...
متن کاملAnalytical Modeling of Specific Energy Consumption and Cost Share in Comprehensive Textile Industry: Case Study of Ethiopia
Energy is one of the primary inputs in textile processing industries that have a significant impact on the cost of a cotton product. The energy cost-share is reported between 5-10% of the total production cost of woven cotton fabric in textile factories of developed countries. However, it is far higher in developing countries. This study aims to contribute to the understanding of energy use and...
متن کاملA Safe and Sustainable Development in a Hygiene and Healthy Company Using Decision Matrix Risk Assessment Technique: a case study
This article describes the process of improving risk management practices in a foundry of the ALFET Company (Algeria). The proposed methodology is based on the decision matrix risk assessment technique. This technique allows making a risk assessment for each source of risk (machine, man, environment, and management), which leads to the determination of the overall risk rate during the activity ...
