Three-dimensional video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery in major lung resection

چکیده

Thoracoscopic surgery has been potentiated by advances in technology since it was first embarked upon in the early 20th century. A review of the literature pertinent to the use of three-dimensional (3D) imaging in video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery was performed. There is little high-quality data available on this topic. Current evidence supports non-inferiority of 3D over conventional two-dimensional (2D) systems, with a shorter operative time as the sole consistently-noted benefit of this technology. Further investigation is warranted to better evaluate the role of 3D technology in improving patient-centred outcomes and further empowering clinicians to expand the scope of our practice.

Video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery for non-small cell lung cancer in patients on hemodialysis.

There have been a few reports of pulmonary resection for lung cancer in patients on hemodialysis (HD), but no reports of video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery (VATS) in these patients have been submitted. We describe two patients on HD undergoing thoracoscopic resection for lung cancer. For the thoracoscopic operation, anatomies of the patients were confirmed by three-dimensional multidetector c...

Three-dimensional simulation, surgical navigation and thoracoscopic lung resection

This report describes a 3-dimensional (3-D) video-assisted thoracoscopic lung resection guided by a 3-D video navigation system having a patient-specific 3-D reconstructed pulmonary model obtained by preoperative simulation. A 78-year-old man was found to have a small solitary pulmonary nodule in the left upper lobe in chest computed tomography. By a virtual 3-D pulmonary model the tumor was fo...

Analysis of the Results of Pulmonary Resection by Minimally Invasive Thoracoscopy for the Surgical Treatment of Lung Cancer

Introduction: Lung cancer is the disease of modern era, and the rate of lung cancer mortality is three times as high as that for prostate cancer and twice as high as the rate for breast cancer. We aimed to analyze the results of pulmonary resection in patients with NSCLC by minimally invasive thoracoscopy.  Materials and Methods: We studied 10 patients with NSCLC scheduled for surgical resectio...

Video-assisted thoracoscopic pulmonary surgery--current status and potential evolution.

The current status of video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery (VATS) of the lung has been reviewed. The published data support the view that VATS pulmonary surgery is feasible and safe. It is associated with decreased perioperative pain and opiate requirement, better postoperative pulmonary function, and probable overall neutral cost impact. A VATS approach is functionally superior to open thoraco...

CT-guided hook wire localization of subpleural lung lesions for video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery (VATS).

BACKGROUND/PURPOSE Histologic diagnosis of suspicious small subpleural lung lesions is difficult and often impossible using existing image-guided needle biopsy techniques including video-assisted thoracoscopic wedge resection. Preoperative lung lesion localization provides a more obvious target to facilitate intraoperative resection. This study reviewed the indications, results and complication...
