چکیده
In its acute forms, pancreatitis is a severe and frequently fatal disease, characterized biochemically by intrapancreatic activation of very powerful digestive enzymes.'0 The activation of these enzymes results in hydrolytic cleavage of cellular structures followed by generalized pancreatic necrosis, peritonitis, and vasomotor collapse."'8 In its chronic forms, pancreatitis is a disabling disease associated with progressive digestive insufficiency due to decreasing concentrations of pancreatic enzymes in the intestinal contents.'8 Accordingly, malnutrition, anemia, and avitaminosis accompany the recurrent epigastric pain which results from localized pancreatic inflammation.

The protective effect of nano-curcumin in experimental model of acute pancreatitis: The involvement of TLR4/NF-kB pathway
Objective(s): The objective of the present study is to explore whether Nanocurcumin improves pancreatic inflammation through the inhibition of the TLR4/NFkB signaling pathway in cerulein-induced acute pancreatitis. Methods: Acute pancreatitis was induced by five intraperitoneal (i.p.) injection of cerulein (50 μg/kg) with 1h intervals. Vehicle and nanocurcumin (100mg/kg/day) were given to the a...
متن کاملRole of Clinical, Biochemical, and Imaging Parameters in predicting the Severity of Acute Pancreatitis
Aim The assessment of the severity of acute pancreatitis (AP) is important for proper management of the disease and for its prognosis. The aim was to correlate clinical, biochemical, and imaging diagnostic parameters and evaluate their prognostic values in the early assessment of severity of AP. Materials and methods We prospectively studied 128 consecutive patients with AP. The predictors we...
متن کاملThe Predictivity of Serum Biochemical Markers in Acute Biliary Pancreatitis
Background and Aim. There are no accurate methods of differentiating acute biliary pancreatitis. Obstructions of biliary ducts, idiopathic pancreatitis may be related with biliary origin which needs identification for acute treatment. We searched for the predictivity of biochemical markers in early acute biliary pancreatitis. Patients and Methods. Serum levels of AST (Aspartate Transaminase),AL...
متن کاملIntraductal papillary mucinous neoplasm (IPMN) and chronic pancreatitis: overlapping pathological entities? Two case reports.
CONTEXT Intraductal papillary mucinous neoplasms (IPMNs) are a recently classified pancreatic neoplasm with an increasing incidence. IPMN is often misdiagnosed as chronic pancreatitis because of symptoms of relapsing abdominal pain, pancreatitis, and steatorrhea and imaging findings of a dilated pancreatic duct of cystic lesions that are frequently confused with pseudocysts. Early recognition o...
