IP performance, TCP, UDP, mobile gateway, network performance, wireless network, header compression, snoop protocol, fast handoff We present an architecture that addresses a number of issues that would otherwise severely hamper network performance in a wireless network. By combining a number of techniques that improve IP performance, on low bandwidth links, both throughput and bandwidth utilization are increased. Special attention has been devoted to ensure good performance of TCP but other protocols such as UDP will also benefit from deployment of the Mobile Gateway techniques.
