Colloidal carbon spheres and their core/shell structures with noble-metal nanoparticles.

چکیده
Colloidal microand nanospheres have been of continuous research interest, since their intrinsic properties can be finely tuned by changing parameters such as diameter, chemical composition, bulk structure, and crystallinity. Up to now, they have found a broad range of applications in fields such as drug delivery, biodiagnostics, combinatorial synthesis, and photonic band-gap crystals (PBG). The success of these applications strongly depends on the availability of colloidal spheres with tightly controlled size and surface properties. However, until now, only amorphous silica and some colloidal polymer spheres can be routinely prepared with satisfactorily narrow size distributions. As-prepared colloidal nanoand microspheres usually have relatively inert surfaces, which make surface modification almost unavoidable before use as supports or templates.

Multi-step Coating of Monodisperse Silica Spheres by Titania Nanoparticles Base on Electrostatic Attraction Strategy
TiO2-SiO2 core-shell particles include of monodisperse silica core and nanostructured titania shell were synthesized by a multi-step coating process. The monodisperse silica spheres were synthesized by Stöber method and titania shell was obtained of a colloidal sol prepared by a hydrolysis–condensation reaction. The titania sol was deposited on monodisperse silica spheres by a multi-step coatin...
متن کاملGradual Growth of Gold Nanoseeds on Silica for Silica@Gold Core-Shell Nanoparticles and Investigation of Optical Properties
Metal nanoshells consists of a dielectric core surrounded by a thin noble metal shell, possess unique optical properties that render nanoshells attractive for use in different technologies. This paper reports a facile method for growth of small gold nanoparticles on the functionalized surface of larger silica nanoparticles. Mono-dispersed silica particles and gold nanoparticles were prepared by...
متن کاملPlatinum monolayer on nonnoble metal-noble metal core-shell nanoparticle electrocatalysts for O2 reduction.
We synthesized a new class of O2 electrocatalysts with a high activity and very low noble metal content. They consist of Pt monolayers deposited on the surfaces of carbon-supported nonnoble metal-noble metal core-shell nanoparticles. These core-shell nanoparticles were formed by segregating the atoms of the noble metal on to the nanoparticles' surfaces at elevated temperatures. A Pt monolayer w...
متن کاملSelf-assembly of noble metal monolayers on transition metal carbide nanoparticle catalysts.
We demonstrated the self-assembly of transition metal carbide nanoparticles coated with atomically thin noble metal monolayers by carburizing mixtures of noble metal salts and transition metal oxides encapsulated in removable silica templates. This approach allows for control of the final core-shell architecture, including particle size, monolayer coverage, and heterometallic composition. Carbo...
متن کاملCore–shell titanium dioxide /carbon nanofibers decorated nickel nanoparticles as supports for electrocatalytic oxidation of ethanol
Abstract Recently alcohol fuel cells has been increased consideration because of their environmental friendliness, high energy conversion efficiency and low emissions. Many effort have been made to improve the electro-oxidation performance of alcohols such as methanol, ethanol and propanol. In this work, a new method for ethanol oxidation based on core–shell titanium dioxide / carbon nanofib...
