Semiparametric median residual life model and inference

For randomly censored data, the authors propose a general class of semiparametricmedian residual life models. They incorporate covariates in a generalized linear form while leaving the baseline median residual life function completely unspecified. Despite the non-identifiability of the survival function for a given median residual life function, a simple and natural procedure is proposed to estimate the regression parameters and the baselinemedian residual life function. The authors derive the asymptotic properties for the estimators, and demonstrate the numerical performance of the proposed method through simulation studies. Themedian residual life model can be easily generalized tomodel other quantiles, and the estimationmethod can also be applied to the mean residual life model. Les covariables sont incorporées dans la partie linéaire généralisée tandis que la durée de vie résiduelle médiane de référence est entièrement non spécifiée. Malgré que la fonction de survie soit non identifiable pour une fonction de durée de vie résiduelle médiane donnée, une procédure simple et naturelle est proposée pour estimer les paramètres de régression ainsi que la fonction de durée de vie résiduellemédiane de référence. Les auteurs obtiennent les propriétés asymptotiques des estimateurs et ils illustrent la performance numérique de la méthode proposée à l’aide de simulation. Le modèle de durée de vie résiduelle médiane peut facilement être généralisé pour modéliser les autres quantiles et la méthode d’estimation peut aussi être appliquée au modèle de durée de vie résiduelle moyenne.
