چکیده

Transmit SENSE. For this purpose, an ROI was drawn in the occipital lobe (white ROI Fig3) and two B1 Phase Shim solutions were calculated and applied in order to obtain an homogeneous B1 magnitude within this ROI: one based on the estimated B1 maps, another one based on the measured B1 maps. As can be seen in Fig3 (in degrees), both B1 Shim sets produced tremendous improvement in B1 efficiency and B1 homogeneity (the same RF power was used for the 3 AFI B1 maps, nominal flip angle 70°. Only B1 Phases were adjusted with B1 Shim). The mean flip angle [+/-std] rose from 40° [+/-6.9] in Fig4A (before B1Shim) to 69° [6.0] in Fig4B (B1 Shim based on measured B1 maps) and 73° [7.9] in Fig4C (B1 Shim based on estimated B1 maps). Those estimated B1 maps should be compared to those in Fig.2C, obtained with a multichannel B1 mapping technique which does involve a large flip angle acquisition[1]. Even though these maps are not identical, they share very strong similarities and an interesting question is to determine whether those Very Fast Multi Channel B1 Calibration at High Field in the Small Flip Angle Regime

B1 mapping of an 8-channel TX-array over a human-head-like volume in less than 2 minutes: the XEP sequence

Introduction: Efficient mitigation of the RF inhomogeneity at high field using transmit coil arrays relies on the knowledge of the individual B1 maps. As the number of transmit channels increases, so does the acquisition time of all maps. For in-vivo experiments, it is crucial to minimize this time of calibration, and several B1measuring techniques compete to reach that goal. Here we focus on a...

Fast phase-modulated B1+ mapping in the low flip-angle regime

Introduction and purpose: In high-field MRI phased transmit arrays are used to mitigate RF issues, e.g. optimizing the inhomogeneous B1 field using spatially tailored RF pulses played out by such an array. In order to design the RF pulses that produce the desired excitation field, the B1 field per coil must be mapped. Ideally, these B1 mapping techniques are fast and have a low SAR deposition. ...

A simple and fast flip angle calibration method

Introduction Quantitative MR techniques such as variable flip angle (VFA)[1] , DESPOT1 [2], quantitative T 2 [3] etc. rely on the accuracy with which the true flip angle is known. Although spatial inhomogeneity of flip angles is expected at high fields (>1.5T) due to B1 field inhomogeneities and uneven slice profiles, accurate estimates of true flip angle are important even at lower field stren...

Improvement in B1+ Homogeneity and Average Flip Angle Using Dual-Source Parallel RF Excitation for Cardiac MRI in Swine Hearts

Cardiac MRI may benefit from increased polarization at high magnetic field strength of 3 Tesla but is challenged by increased field inhomogeneity. Initial human studies have shown that the radiofrequency (RF) excitation field (B1+) used for signal excitation in the heart is both inhomogeneous and significantly lower than desired, potentially leading to image artifacts and biased quantitative me...

Fast and Robust B1 Mapping at 7T by the Bloch-Siegert Method

Introduction: B1 mapping has a variety of applications including the design of RF pulses in parallel transmit systems, and flip angle calibration for T1 mapping. Many existing B1 mapping methods suffer from T1 dependence, long scan time or inability to handle the large B1 inhomogeneity that occurs even across the human brain at 7T. The Bloch-Siegert B1 mapping method has been recently introduce...
