چکیده

traditional methods of treatment for ruptured dissecting aneurysm of vertebral artery (rVADA). Proximal artery occlusion may be effective in the acute period, but is not enough to eradicate the risk of rebleeding (1). Mass effect usually is not a concern for a case of well occluded rVADA. However, we experienced a growing thrombosed aneurysm after rVADA occlusion, and conventional angiography did not reveal antegrade and retrograde luminal flow into the rVADA but faint contrast staining of the aneurismal periphery, which corresponded to a histological finding, proliferative vasa vasorum. We suggest that the vasa vasorum plays a crucial role in the growth of excluded rVADAs from the VA after endovascular trapping or proximal artery occlusion.

Radical surgical treatment for recurrent giant fusiform thrombosed vertebral artery aneurysm previously coiled

BACKGROUND Fusiform aneurysms are rare (<1%) and the underlying pathophysiology is not well known. Endovascular coiling is the standard of treatment; however, a surgical procedure with vascular reconstruction by excluding the pathological segment of the vessel and restoring the blood flow, seems to be the most effective and definitive treatment. CASE DESCRIPTION We report a patient who presen...

Ruptured vertebral artery dissecting aneurysms treated with endovascular treatment.

Intracranial vertebral artery (VA) dissecting aneurysms often present with severe subarachnoid hemorrhage (SAH) and a subsequent high rate of mortality. We retrospectively studied the treatment efficacy and outcomes of 26 patients with ruptured VA dissecting aneurysms treated with endovascular surgery. Twenty-six patients with ruptured VA dissecting aneurysms were enrolled. Fifteen patients pre...

The Strategy of Endovascular Treatment for Ruptured Vertebral Artery Dissecting Aneurysm, Based on Its Location Relating to the Position of the Posterior Inferior Cerebellar Artery Origin

Objective: We evaluated the outcomes of endovascular therapy for ruptured vertebral artery dissecting aneurysm (VADA), focusing on its location relating to the posterior inferior cerebellar artery (PICA) origin. Materials and Methods: Patients with ruptured VADA, treated in our hospital from January 2007 to July 2015, were divided into four groups with respect to the location of the PICA origin...

Endovascular treatment of ruptured vertebral artery dissecting aneurysms involving the posterior inferior cerebellar artery.

Dissecting Aneurysms Involving the Posterior Inferior Cerebellar Artery We read the article of Kim et al entitled “Stenting from the Vertebral Artery to the Posterior Inferior Cerebellar Artery” with special interest. In their series, 2 patients had vertebral artery (VA) dissecting aneurysms involving the posterior inferior cerebellar artery (PICA) origin. The authors used VA-to-PICA stent plac...

Dissecting aneurysms of all four cervicocranial arteries in fibromuscular dysplasia: treatment with self-expanding endovascular stents, coil embolization, and surgical ligation.

A patient with cervicocranial fibromuscular dysplasia (FMD) presented with subarachnoid hemorrhage. A ruptured dissecting distal vertebral artery aneurysm required clip ligation of the parent artery; a contralateral dissecting proximal vertebral aneurysm was occluded with detachable coils. Progressive dissecting, extracranial aneurysms of the internal carotid artery were treated with self-expan...
