چکیده

The prediction of cross sections for nuclei far off stability is crucial in the field of nuclear astrophysics. In recent calculations the nuclear level density – as an important ingredient to the statistical model (Hauser-Feshbach) – has shown the highest uncertainties. We present a global parametrization of nuclear level densities based on the back-shifted Fermi-Gas formalism. Employment of an energy-dependent level density parameter a and microscopic corrections from a recent FRDM mass formula by Möller et al. leads to a highly improved fit of level densities at the neutron-separation energy in the mass range 20 ≤ A ≤ 245. The importance of using proper microscopic corrections from mass formulae is emphasized. The resulting level description is well suited for astrophysical applications. The level density can also provide clues to the applicability of the statistical model which is only correct for a high density of excited states. Using the above description one can derive a “map” for the applicability of the model for reactions of stable and unstable nuclei with neutral and charged particles.

بررسی چگالی ترازهای انرژی هسته‌های اگزوتیک

Nuclear level density (NLD) is one of the properties of nuclei with widespread applications in astrophysics and nuclear medicine. Since there has been little experimental and theoretical research on the study of nuclei which are far from stability line, studying NLD for these nuclei is of crucial importance. Also, as NLD is an important input for nuclear research codes, hence studying the metho...

STUDY OF NUCLEAR LEVEL DENSITY AND SPIN CUT-OFF FACTORS

Nuclear level densities and spin cut-off factors have been deduced for nuclei in the mass region 24‹A‹63,from a microscopic theory, which includes nuclear pairing interaction. Single particle levels for both Seeger and Nilsson potentials were used in the calcdations. Level densities extracted from the theory are compared with their conesponding experimental values, It is found that the overall...

From the microcosm of the atomic nuclei to the macrocosm of the stars

A necessary condition for the reliable modelling of the structure or evolution of the stars and of their concomitant nucleosynthesis is the availability of good quality nuclear data in a very wide area of the chart of nuclides. This short review presents a non-exhaustive list of nuclear data of astrophysics interest (masses, β-decays, thermonuclear and non-thermonuclear reaction rates) for nucl...
