The 9-kDa Phosphoprotein Involved in Photoinhibition
نویسندگان
چکیده
Photosystem-II particles exhibit strong photoinhibition. Short-term illumination of photosystem-II particles with high-intensity light (5000 piE/m x s) leads to a typical change of the protein pattern on SDS-PAGE. Two proteins are mainly affected, namely the well-described 32-kDa herbicide-binding protein which probably is degraded [1] and, first published here, the 9-kDa phosphoprotein, whose function in the PS-II complex is still unknown. This protein is not degraded, but seems to be linked to other polypeptides of the PS-II complex. During light treatment new bands of 23, 41, 50 and 54 kDa appear in the protein pattern of SDS-PAGE. A monospecific antiserum was produced against the 9-kDa phosphoprotein to investigate its fate. After light treatment the antibodies reacted with new proteins of higher molecular weights, most pronounced with a 23-kDa and a 41-kDa peptide.

Effects of Antiproliferative Protein (APP) on Modulation of Cytosolic Protein Phosphorylation of Prostatic Carcinoma Cell Line LNCaP
Antiproliferative protein (APP) isolated from conditioned media of two androgen-independent prostatic carcinoma cell lines, PC3 and Du-145 was shown to inhibit selectively cell proliferation of androgen-dependent prostate cancer cell line LNCaP in a dose dependent manner. This protein was further purified with HPLC using hydrophobic interaction column (phenyl 5PW) and was used to study the modu...
متن کاملTEM immunocytochemistry of a 48 kDa MW organic matrix phosphoprotein produced in the mantle epithelial cells of the Eastern oyster (Crassostrea virginica).
Immunohistochemical TEM of Eastern oyster (Crassostrea virginica) mantle epithelial cells using a polyclonal antibody to a gel purified 48 kDa MW oyster shell phosphoprotein revealed that it is phosphorylated in the Golgi, packaged into secretory vesicles and subsequently exocytosed across the apical membrane of specialized cells. These phosphoprotein producing cells are concentrated along the ...
متن کاملIncreased amount of a 25-kilodalton phosphoprotein after v-mos transfection of CHO cells.
We transfected Chinese hamster ovary (CHO) cells with a cloned v-mos gene (pHT25). The mos family of oncogenes has previously been shown to have serine-threonine kinase activity. This kinase activity may be required for oncogenic transformation, although its exact biological role is unknown. We found that the transfected cells had an altered morphology, a slower doubling time, and an apparent i...
متن کاملIdentifying different subgroups of rabies virus in Iran
Abstract: Background: Rabies has been reported in all provinces and cities of Iran, although there has been no molecular study regarding different groups and subgroups of rabies virus by phosphoprotein gene. In this study, firstly, 48 and then 85 recent rabies isolates recovered from cases reported throughout Iran identified the evolutionary origins by molecular method of phosphoprotein gene r...

HTLV-I is the etiologic agent for adult T-cell leukemia/lymphoma (ATL) and HTLV-I-associated myelopathy/tropical spastic paraparesis (HAM/TSP). Taxi, the major activator of this virus, is a 40- kDa (353 amino acid) phosphoprotein, predominantly localized in the nucleus of the host cell, which functions to trans-activate both viral and cellular promoters. Recently it has been shown that HTLV-I a...
