چکیده

air spaces and absence of hyperplastic pneumocytes (type II) with bizarre shapes usually noted in cases of bleomycin-induced interstitial pneumonitis.10 The pathologic changes described in our patient are different from those described for bleomycin hypersensitivity pneumonitis and appear to be a classic bleomycin intestitial pneumonitis.11 This case illustrates that life threatening bleomycin PT, although unusual, can occur with very low doses of bleomycin. The case also illustrates that prompt recognition is essential since some patients have a favorable response to corticosteroid therapy. Further studies are needed for a better understanding of the mechanisms involved in the development of PT induced by bleomycin.

Parvovirus B19 infection presenting with severe erythroid aplastic crisis during pregnancy in a woman with autoimmune hemolytic anemia and alpha-thalassemia trait: a case report

INTRODUCTION Parvovirus B19 virus commonly causes subclinical infection, but it can prove fatal to the fetus during pregnancy and cause severe anemia in an adult with hemolytic diseases. We present the case of a woman with autoimmune hemolytic anemia who was diagnosed with parvovirus B19-induced transient aplastic crisis during her second trimester of pregnancy and faced the high risk of both f...

Pure red cell aplasia in a simultaneous pancreas-kidney transplantation patient: inside the erythroblast

A case of pure red cell aplasia in a simultaneous kidney-pancreas transplant recipient on immunosuppressive therapy is reported here. The patient presented with anemia unresponsive to erythropoietin treatment. Bone marrow cytomorphology was highly suggestive of parvovirus pure red cell aplasia, which was confirmed with serology and polymerase chain reaction positive for parvovirus B19 DNA in pe...

Parvovirus B19-triggered Acute Hemolytic Anemia and Thrombocytopenia in a Child with Evans Syndrome

Background Human parvovirus B19 (HPV-B19) is the etiologic agent of erythema infectiosum, of transient aplastic crises in individuals with underlying chronic hemolytic disorders, and of chronic pure red cell aplasia in immunocompromised individuals. Case report We describe a 14-year-old girl with long-standing Evans syndrome, who presented with severe anemia, reticulocytopenia and thrombocyto...

Parvovirus B19 Associated Pure Red Cell Aplasia Associated with R-CHOP Immunochemotherapy for Relapsed B-Cell Non-Hodgkin′S Lymphoma – An Indicator of A Poor Prognosis?

We describe the case of a patient who developed a severe and symptomatic Parvovirus B19 associated anemia during R-CHOP-14 chemoimmunotherapy of a secondary high-grade Non-Hodgkin ́s lymphoma. While lymphoma responded to the initial therapy with R-CHOP plus consolidation radiation therapy, the anemia was interpreted as pure red cell aplasia and responded to treatment with intravenous immunoglobu...

Successful intravenous immunoglobulin therapy in 3 cases of parvovirus B19-associated chronic fatigue syndrome.

Three cases of chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS) that followed acute parvovirus B19 infection were treated with a 5-day course of intravenous immunoglobulin (IVIG; 400 mg/kg per day), the only specific treatment for parvovirus B19 infection. We examined the influence of IVIG treatment on the production of cytokines and chemokines in individuals with CFS due to parvovirus B19. IVIG therapy led to c...
