Dutch guideline on total hip prosthesis

DOI 10.3109/17453674.2011.623575 Clinical practice guidelines are being used in many countries throughout the world to improve the quality of patient care. The Dutch Orthopaedic Association has a long tradition of guideline development, starting in the mid-1980s with “eminence-based consensus” and following in the mid-1990s the renewed calls for the establishment of international methodologies to promote the rigorous development of clinical guidelines and to assess their quality and their impact on practice. This updated guideline on total hip prosthesis was developed using the “Appraisal of Guidelines for Research and Evaluation (AGREE)” instrument (www.agreecollaboration. org).
