A transplantable spontaneous chloroleukemia in the Wistar rat.

چکیده
Spontaneous chloroleukemia occurred in three adult members of a colony of Wistar rats. The chloroleukemia from one of these rats has been maintained in random-bred Wistar rats by inoculating tumor cells from leukemic donors into suckling rats. This report describes the course and manifestations, hematology, and pathologic changes of this transplantable chloroleukemia through ten serial subtransfers. Results of cell-free inoculations were negative.

Spontaneous prolactin transplantable tumor in the Wistar/Furth rat (SMtTW): a new animal model of human prolactinoma.
Two spontaneous prolactinomas, removed from 28-mo-old female Wistar/Furth rats, were grafted by serial passages under the kidney capsule and the skin in 117 females of the same consanguineous strain. The hosts, aged between 2 and 10 mo, were free of estrogen treatment. These transplantable tumors, named SMtTW1 and SMtTW2, were studied until the fifth serial passage. The percentage of success wa...
متن کاملStudy of a Virus Isolated from a Chloroleukemic Wistar Rat.
A nonpathogenic strain of rat virus, L-S strain, was isolated from a Wistar rat bearing chloroleukemia. Five other chloroleukemic rats and 21 other tumor-bearing rats yielded no virus. The L-S virus grows on embryonic rat but not embryonic mouse tissue and produces a cytopathogenic effect (CPE) which is slightly different from that produced by Kilham's latent rat virus (RV). Data are presented ...
