How Do Symbols and Networks Fit Together - A Report from the Workshop on Integrating Neural and Symbolic Processes
نویسندگان
چکیده
and Symbolic Processes (the Cognitive Dimension), sponsored by the American Association for Artificial Intelligence, was held on 16 July 1992 at the San Jose Convention Center, San Jose, California. The workshop addressed the cognitive aspects of integrating neural and symbolic processes through the comparison, the categorization, and the examination of existing and new approaches. The workshop attracted a large audience from both academia and industry. The presentation of 16 papers, 3 invited talks, and a summary panel, as well as open discussions, helped to shed much new light on technical issues and future directions in this area.

Engineering Application Of Correlation on Ann Estimated Mass
A functional relationship between two variables, applied mass to a weighing platform and estimated mass using Multi-Layer Perceptron Artificial Neural Networks is approximated by a linear function. Linear relationships and correlation rates are obtained which quantitatively verify that the Artificial Neural Network model is functioning satisfactorily. Estimated mass is achieved through recallin...
متن کاملA Tool for Building Connectionist-like Networks Based on Term Unification
The paper presents a network modeling tool called Net-Clause Language (NCL), integrating some connectionist-like and some symbolic processing features in a uniied computational environment. Unlike the other connectionist symbol processing approaches, NCL represents and processes symbols not by implementing them as patterns of activity in a traditional neural network, rather it uses some connect...

This study discusses the manifestation of carpets in children’s literature. Since carpets are one of the universal symbols of Iranian art and culture, scholars and educators should attempt to institutionalize this art and craft as a cultural issue in the society. Obviously, such a movement must begin from childhood and use methods and models based on children’s interests. A story is...
متن کاملSpatial and symbolic recognition of Chinese mosques
The history of Islam in China began when the first ambassador of Islamic caliphate in 654 AD, gained the court of the Chinese emperor. After that Islam has been spread throughout there during a century. In this study, authors try to study about how architectural elements and spatial forms are effected from Islam or Buddhist-Chinese tradition. Then, at the first it must be clear that which symbo...
متن کاملNeuro-ACT Cognitive Architecture Applications in Modeling Driver’s Steering Behavior in Turns
Cognitive Architectures (CAs) are the core of artificial cognitive systems. A CA is supposed to specify the human brain at a level of abstraction suitable for explaining how it achieves the functions of the mind. Over the years a number of distinct CAs have been proposed by different authors and their limitations and potentials were investigated. These CAs are usually classified as symbolic and...
