چکیده

We are concerned with an issue of asymptotic validity of a non-parametric randomization test for the two sample location problem under the assumption of partially dependent observations, in which case the validity of the usual permutation t-test breaks down. We show that a certain modification of the permutation group used in the randomization procedure yields an unconditional asymptotically valid test in the sense that its probability of Type I error tends to the nominal level with increasing sample sizes. We show that this unconditional test is equivalent to the one based on a linear combination of twoand one-sample t-statistics and enjoys some optimal power properties. Finally, we present an example of application of the test in a medical study on functional status assessment at the end of life.

However, in case the missing ness not completely at random (MCAR), Looney and Jones [9] argued that ignoring some of the correlated observations would bias the estimation of the variance of the difference in treatment means and would dramatically affect the performance of the statistical test in terms of controlling type I error rates and statistical power [10]. They pr...

Asymptotic algorithm for computing the sample variance of interval data

The problem of the sample variance computation for epistemic inter-val-valued data is, in general, NP-hard. Therefore, known efficient algorithms for computing variance require strong restrictions on admissible intervals like the no-subset property or heavy limitations on the number of possible intersections between intervals. A new asymptotic algorithm for computing the upper bound of the samp...

Asymptotic Distributions of Estimators of Eigenvalues and Eigenfunctions in Functional Data

Functional data analysis is a relatively new and rapidly growing area of statistics. This is partly due to technological advancements which have made it possible to generate new types of data that are in the form of curves. Because the data are functions, they lie in function spaces, which are of infinite dimension. To analyse functional data, one way, which is widely used, is to employ princip...
