چکیده

We investigate Dyson's hierarchical vector valued φ model at low temperatures. The case 2>c> j/2is considered. The pure phase is constructed, and the existence of its large scale limit is proved. The limit is Gaussian, but an unusual normalization has to be chosen. In the direction of the spontaneous magnetization one has to divide by the square root of the volume, but in the orthogonal direction one has to divide by a different power of the volume for all low temperatures.

Hadrons in Dense Matter

Physical reason behind the mass-shift of vector mesons (ρ, ω, φ) in nuclear matter is discussed in the Walecka model and in QCD sum rules. Using analytic formulas for the mass-shift valid at low densities, it is shown that the energy dependent part of the self-energy in medium (wave function renormalization) is a main source for the negative massshift, while the energy independent part (the pla...

Non - Gaussian numerical errors versus mass hierarchy

We probe the numerical errors made in renormalization group calculations by varying slightly the rescaling factor of the fields and rescaling back in order to get the same (if there were no round-off errors) zero momentum 2-point function (magnetic susceptibility). The actual calculations were performed with Dyson's hierarchical model and a simplified version of it. We compare the distributions...

The Finite Temperature SU(2) Savvidy Model with a Non-trivial Polyakov Loop

We calculate the complete one-loop effective potential for SU(2) gauge bosons at temperature T as a function of two variables: φ, the angle associated with a non-trivial Polyakov loop, and H, a constant background chromomagnetic field. These two variables are indicators for confinement and scale symmetry breaking, respectively. Using techniques broadly applicable to finite temperature field the...

The Oscillatory Behavior of the High - Temperature Expansion of Dyson ’ s Hierarchical Model : A Renormalization Group Analysis

We calculate 800 coefficients of the high-temperature expansion of the magnetic susceptibility of Dyson's hierarchical model with a Landau-Ginzburg measure. Log-periodic corrections to the scaling laws appear as in the case of a Ising measure. The period of oscillation appers to be a universal quantity given in good approximation by the logarithm of the largest eigenvalue of the linearized RG t...

Hierarchical Mumford-Shah Model for Vector-valued Image Segmentation, Denoising and Reconstruction

A novel hierarchical Mumford-Shah functional model is addressed to simultaneously segment, denoise and reconstruct the data within a given vector-valued image such as a color image, and to handle important image features such as triple points and other multiple junctions, which can be seen as a hierarchical case of the Mumford-Shah minimal partition problem for vector-valued images. At the same...
