Electron-impact ionization of Li2 using a time-dependent close-coupling method

چکیده
The time-dependent close-coupling method is applied to calculate the electron-impact ionization of a diatomic molecule with interior closed subshells. The ionization of the outer 2sσ subshell of Li2(1sσ 22pσ 22sσ 2) is carried out using a standard core orthogonalization method. At the peak of the Li2 cross section, the nonperturbative time-dependent close-coupling cross sections are found to be lower than perturbative distorted-wave cross sections. The reductions due to electron correlation effects are in keeping with previous reductions of peak cross sections seen in the electron-impact ionization of neutral atoms.

متن کاملTime-dependent close-coupling calculations for the electron-impact ionization of carbon and neon
A time-dependent close-coupling method is used to calculate the electron-impact ionization cross section for the outer 2p subshell of both carbon and neon atoms. The inner 1s and 2s subshells are treated using pseudopotentials, while interaction with the remaining 2p core electrons is handled in a configuration-average approximation. When the time-dependent ionization cross section for the 2p s...
متن کاملTime-dependent and time-independent close-coupling methods for the electron-impact ionization of Be+
The electron-impact ionization cross section of Be is calculated using both a time-dependent and a timeindependent close-coupling method. The time-dependent method is based on the propagation of wave packets constructed using excited-state orbitals calculated in a core pseudopotential. The time-independent method is an R-matrix solution based on a total wave function constructed using antisymme...

To test the validity of classical trajectory and perturbative quantal methods for electron-impact ionization of H-like ions from excited states, we have performed advanced close-coupling calculations of ionization from excited states in H, Li2+ and B4+ using the R-matrix with pseudo states and the timedependent close-coupling methods. Comparisons with our classical trajectory Monte Carlo (CTMC)...

Time-dependent close-coupling and time-independent distorted-wave methods are used to calculate the electron-impact double-ionization cross section for the 1s22s2 ground configuration of the B+ atomic ion. The direct double-ionization cross section is calculated using the non-perturbative close-coupling method between the direct double-ionization threshold of 63.1 eV and the 1s ionization thres...
