The BMA and its staff's private health cover.

An error crept into Des Spence’s column about private health cover for BMA staff (BMJ 2013;347:f5199, doi:10.1136/bmj. f5199). The BMA’smedia office told Spence during his research for the article, “Private medical insurance is only offered to a very small number of the BMA’s most senior members of staff—directors in the senior managers group—as part of their remuneration package.” However, Spence wrote that “the directors and the senior managers of the BMA have had private medicine as part of their remuneration for some time.” The BMA has since clarified that although senior managers are offered private health cover, it does not offer this perk to directors, who are elected members of its council.
