چکیده
mean hyperemia with CAPT was 2.3 6 0.6 units (between moderate and severe) and with EEC was 1.9 6 0.5 units (approximately moderate); these maxima occurred after 30 minutes with CAPT (rapid spike) and after 180 minutes with EEC (gradual increase). Mean swelling was ,1 unit out of 4 units at all times (CAPT and EEC), and mucous discharge was observed in only 1 subject during the study (with CAPT). Maximum mean itching with both CAPT and EEC was 2.8 6 1.0 units (approximately severe), but this maximum occurred after 20 minutes with CAPT (rapid spike) and after 180 minutes with EEC (gradual increase). Maximum mean tearing with CAPT was 1.2 6 0.7 units (approximately mild) and with EEC was 1.6 6 0.6 units (between mild and moderate); these maxima occurred after 15 minutes with EEC (rapid spike) and after 120 minutes with EEC (gradual increase). Conclusions: The time courses of allergic signs and symptoms differed between CAPT and EEC models; however, both models evoked similar maximum response levels. This demonstrates that the EEC model is a useful challenge model for mimicking natural airborne ocular allergen exposure.

An Imbalance between Frequency of CD4+CD25+FOXP3+ Regulatory T Cells and CCR4+ and CCR9+ Circulating Helper T Cells Is Associated with Active Perennial Allergic Conjunctivitis
Allergic conjunctivitis (AC) is one of the most common eye disorders in ophthalmology. In mice models, it has been suggested that control of allergic conjunctivitis is a delicate balance between Tregs and inflammatory migrating effector cells. Our aim was to evaluate the frequency of Tregs and the frequency of homing receptors expressing cells in peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMC) from p...
متن کاملNumerical status of CD4+CD25+FoxP3+ and CD8+CD28- regulatory T cells in multiple sclerosis
Objective(s): Regulatory T cells, including CD4+CD25+Fox3+ and CD8+CD28- cells play an important role in regulating the balance between immunity and tolerance. Since multiple sclerosis is an inflammatory autoimmune disease, regulatory T cells are considered to be involved in its pathogenesis. In this study, we investigated the circulatory numbers of the two mentioned types of regulatory T cells...
متن کاملDepletion of Thymus-Derived CD4+CD25+ T Cells Abrogates the Suppressive Effects of α-galactosylceramide Treatment on Experimental Allergic Conjunctivitis.
BACKGROUND We showed previously that α-galactosylceramide (α-GalCer) treatment elevated splenic CD4+ CD25+Foxp3+ T-cell numbers and suppressed the development of experimental allergic conjunctivitis (EC). Here, we investigated whether CD4+CD25+Foxp3+ T cells mediate the suppressive effects of α-GalCer treatment on EC. METHODS To deplete CD4+CD25+Foxp3+ T cells, neonatal mice were thymectomize...
متن کاملResting and Activated Natural Tregs Decrease in the Peripheral Blood of Patients with Atherosclerosis
Background: Atherosclerosis is a chronic inflammatory disease affecting large and medium arteries. CD4+ T cells are known to play a role in the progression of the disease. CD4+CD25+Foxp3+ natural Treg (nTreg) cells seem to have a protective role in the disease and their reduction in acute coronary syndrome is recently shown. Objective: To investigate the frequency of nTreg subsets in the pe...
متن کاملFoxP3+ Regulatory T Cells in Peripheral Blood of Patients with Epithelial Ovarian Cancer
Background: Ovarian cancer is the fifth leading cause of death from malignancy in women. CD4 +CD25+FoxP3+ regulatory T (Treg) cells are a subset of T lymphocytes with great inhibitory impact on immune response. Objectives: To investigate the percentage of CD4 +CD25+FoxP3+ regulatory T cells in the peripheral blood of the Iranian patients with epithelial ovarian cancer compared to healthy women ...
متن کاملInactivated Mycobacterium phlei inhalation ameliorates allergic asthma through modulating the balance of CD4+CD25+ regulatory T and Th17 cells in mice
Objective(s): Th2 response is related to the aetiology of asthma, but the underlying mechanism is unclear. To address this point, the effect of nebulized inhalation of inactivated Mycobacterium phlei on modulation of asthmatic airway inflammation was investigated. Materials and Methods: 24 male BALB/c mice were randomly divided into three groups: control group (Group A), asthma model group (G...
