چکیده

Clumped isotopes geothermometry was applied to two dolomitic hydrocarbon reservoirs. Results indicate that late burial dolomitization occurred at ~110°C in the Albian Pinda dolostone (offshore Angola) and ~90°C in the Mano-Meillon dolostone (Aquitaine Basin, France), and did not continue on during subsequent burial/thermal evolution to present-day conditions (150160°C). This study illustrates the great potential of the clumped isotopes approach to help unravel dolomitization processes in hydrocarbon reservoirs. © 2015 The Authors. Published by Elsevier B.V. Coupling Geomechanics and Transport in Naturally Fractured Reservoirs

Large amounts of hydrocarbon reserves are trapped in naturally fractured reservoirs which arechallenging in terms of accurate recovery prediction because of their joint fabric complexity andlithological heterogeneity. Canada, for example, has over 400 billion barrels of crude oil in fracturedcarbonates in Alberta, most of this being bitumen of viscosity greater than 106 cP in the GrosmontFormat...

The Late Cenomanian-Coniacian Gattar and Aleg reservoirs in Sidi Bouzid area, Central Tunisia: Logging, diagenesis and reservoir implications

At the Sidi Bouzid area located in Central Tunisia, Cenomanian-Turonian reservoir rocks are well outcropping, especially in the Jebel el Kébar and Meloussi areas. The present work confirms that these carbonate intervals constitute the lateral equivalent of the Early-Middle Turonian Biréno and Late Turonian-Coniacian Douleb reservoir Members which are included within the pelagic marls of the Tur...

Numerical investigation of effect of crack geometrical parameters on hydraulic fracturing process of hydrocarbon reservoirs

Hydraulic fracturing (HF), as a stimulation technique in petroleum engineering, has made possible the oil production from reservoirs with very low permeability. The combination of horizontal drilling and multiple HF with various perforation angles has been widely used to stimulate oil reservoirs for economical productions. Despite the wide use of HF, there are still ambiguous aspects that requi...

Formation mechanisms of carbonate concretions of the Monterey Formation: Analyses of clumped isotopes, iron, sulfur and carbon

Carbonate concretions can form as a result of organic matter degradation within sediments. However, the ability to determine specific processes and formation temperatures of particular concretions has remained elusive. Here, we employ concentrations of carbonate-associated sulfate (CAS), SCAS and clumped isotopes (along with more traditional approaches) to characterize the nature of concretion ...

Application of Mineralogical Methods to Assess the Thermal Stabilities of Geothermal Reservoirs

Estimates of temperatures, past and present, in geothermal reservoirs can be made by using now standard mineralogical techniques, including fluid inclusion geothermometry, vitrinite reflectance, calc-silicate and clay occurrence, the extent of clay interlayering, and measuring clay crystallinity. Recent studies of clays in 60 drillcores from 6 wells at Wairakei, for example, show an inverse rel...
