A Stochastic Overlapping Generations Economy with Inheritance
نویسنده
چکیده
An overlapping generations model of an exchange economy is considered, with individuals having a finite expected life-span. As the model is designed to be a fully playable game, conditions concerning birth, death, inheritance and bequests are fully specified.

CARESS Working Paper 00-09 TIME AND UNCERTAINTY IN OVERLAPPING GENERATIONS ECONOMIES
This paper shows the general reversibility of every perfect foresight equilibrium of an overlapping generations economy. It then shows and characterizes the existence of reversible sunspot equilibria in these economies as well, which seems to be at odds with our intuition about the irreversibility of a tree of events. Although the paper establishes also that such reversible stochastic equilibri...
متن کاملBusiness Cycle Phenomena in Overlapping Generations Economies with Stochastic Production
This paper analyzes economic uctuations in an overlapping generations economy with productive capital in which random shocks in aggregate productivity are present. Under speci c assumptions we obtain an explicit solution of the model. Applying random dynamical systems theory, we can prove that the long-run behavior of the economy is uniquely described by an asymptotically stable random xed poin...
متن کاملDynamic Suboptimality of Competitive Equilibrium in Multiperiod Overlapping Generations Economies
The question we ask is: within the set of a three-period-lived OLG economies with a stochastic endowment process, a stochastic dividend process, and sequentially incomplete complete markets, under what set of conditions may a set of government transfers dynamically Pareto dominate the laissez faire equilibrium? We start by characterizing perfect risk sharing and find that it implies a strongly ...
متن کاملMoney and Market Incompleteness in Overlapping Generations Models
This paper investigates the extent to which the character of equilibria in stochastic overlapping generations models stems from the model’s generic market incompleteness. In addition, it addresses the question of whether money serves to complete markets in these models. We show that money does not complete markets in the sense of expanding the set of state-contingent commodities that an individ...
متن کاملDivision of the Humanities and Social Sciences California Institute of Technology Pasadena, California 91125 an Overlapping Generations Model Core Equivalence Theorem
The classical Debreu-Scarf core equivalence theorem asserts that in an exchange economy with a finite number of agents art allocation (under certain conditions) is a Walrasian equilibrium if and only if it belongs to the core of every replica of the exchange economy. The pioneering work of P. Samuelson has shown that such a result fails to be true in exchange economies with a countable number o...
