Phase Evolution of YBa2Cu3O7-x films by all-chemical solution deposition route for coated conductors

چکیده
In order to understand the all-chemical-solution-deposition (CSD) processes for manufacturing coated conductors, we investigated the phase evolution of YBa2Cu3O7 (YBCO) films deposited by a low-fluorine metal-organic solution deposition (LF-MOD) method on CSD derived Ce0.9La0.1O2/Gd2Zr2O7/NiW. It is shown that the phase transition from the pyrolyzed film to fully converted YBCO film in the LF-MOD process is similar to that in typical trifluoroacetates-metal organic deposition (TFA-MOD) processes even though the amount of TFA in the solution is reduced by almost one half compared with typical TFAMOD cases. Moreover, we found that the formation of impurities (mainly BaCeO3, NiWO4 and NiO) is strongly related to the annealing temperature, i.e., the diffusion controlled reactions become intensive from 760 o C, which might be connected with the poor structural and superconducting properties of the films deposited at high sintering temperatures. Based on these results, the optimized growth conditions of YBCO films were established, and a high critical current density (Jc) of about 2 MA/cm 2 (77 K, self field) is achieved in a 200 nm thick YBCO film in the architecture made by our all CSD route.

New advances toward microstructural improvement of epitaxial CeO2 films grown by chemical solution deposition and their use as buffer layers for YBa2Cu3O7 (YBCO) films are presented. We demonstrate that the degree of epitaxy and the fraction of (001) atomically flat surface area are controlled by the incorporation of tetravalent (Zr) or trivalent (Gd) cations into the ceria lattice. The degree ...

The role of grains and grain boundaries in producing reversible strain effects on the transport current critical current density (Jc) of YBa2Cu3O7−δ (YBCO) coated conductors that are produced with metal–organic deposition (MOD) was investigated. The strain (ε) dependence of Jc for full-width coated conductors is compared with that for samples in which the current transport was limited to a few ...
