Contribution of Stellar Flares to the Diffuse Component of Galactic Gamma-Rays

چکیده
It is well known that diffuse gamma-rays are produced by collisions between Galactic cosmic rays and interstellar matter (Hayakawa−Hutchinson−Morrison hypothesis). We estimate the contribution of high energy protons produced by stellar flares to the diffuse component of Galactic gamma-rays. Each star in the Galaxy regularly produces flares that generate high energy protons in the energy range from 100 MeV to 1 TeV. These protons are a likely source of cosmic rays. We estimate that the Galactic bulge can constantly generate 2.7×10 A of high energy proton current.

HIGH LATITUDE GAMMA RAYS ASSOCIATED WITH VIRGO
A more detailed analysis is made of the energy spectrum of the diffuse component of extragalactic gamma rays over the range of 0.3- 10 GeV, obtained fromthe EGRET instrument at the Compton Gamma Ray Observatory. The derived excess energy spectrum of high galactic latitude, b > 60°, using intercept method shows that it is correlated with Virgo cluster (over lsr) and average Virgo intensity i...
متن کاملThe effect of variation of stellar dispersion velocities by the galactic latitude in interpreting gravitational microlensing observations
Our galaxy is a spiral galaxy and its stars are mostly in a thin disk and rotate around the galactic center. The vertical component of the dispersion velocity of stars is a function of the galactic latitude and decreases with increasing it. In the galactic Besancon model, this dependence is ignored and they just consider the dependence of dispersion velocity on the stellar age. Becanson model i...
متن کاملA New Determination Of The Diffuse Galactic and Extragalactic Gamma-Ray Emission
The GALPROP model for cosmic-ray propagation is able to make explicit predictions for the distribution of galactic diffuse gamma-rays. We compare different propagation models with gamma-ray spectra measured by EGRET for various regions of the sky. This allows sensitive tests of alternative explanations for the apparent excess emission observed at GeV gamma-rays. We find that a population of har...
متن کاملThe Guaranteed Gamma-ray Background
The diffuse extragalactic gamma-ray background (EGRB) above 100 MeV encodes unique information about high-energy processes in the universe. Numerous sources for the EGRB have been proposed, but the two systems which are certain to make some contribution are active galaxies (blazars) as well as normal galaxies. In this paper, we evaluate the contribution to the background from both sources. The ...
متن کاملContribution to diffuse gamma-rays in the Galactic center region from unresolved millisecond pulsars
The diffuse gamma-rays in the Galactic center region have been studied. We propose that there exists a population of millisecond pulsars (MSPs) in the Galactic Center, which will emit GeV gamma-rays through the synchrotron-curvature radiation as predicted by outer gap models. These GeV gamma-rays from unresolved millisecond pulsars probably contribute to the diffuse gamma-ray spectrum detected ...
