Anti-Mycobacterium Metabolite from Marine Sponge Iricinia fusca

چکیده
Chemical investigation of the marine sponge Ircinia fusca leads to isolation of a new pyrrole derivative (1) and two known compounds namely, 3 methyl decanoic acid (2) and Benzenedicarboxylic acid (3). The structures of compounds were established by 1D and 2D NMR and MS data. Compound 1 exhibited strong antibacterial activity against Mycobacterium smegmatis at MIC 116 μM. Compounds 1-3 showed neither antifungal nor cytotoxic activity.

Action-mechanism of trichoderin A, an anti-dormant mycobacterial aminolipopeptide from marine sponge-derived Trichoderma sp.
In the course of our search for anti-dormant mycobacterial substances from marine organisms, we previously isolated three new aminolipopeptides, named trichoderins A, A1 and B, from the culture of the marine sponge-derived fungus of Trichoderma sp. and determined their chemical structures. To identify the gene that could confer a resistance to trichoderin A, we prepared transformants of Mycobac...

L-asparaginase is an anti-neoplastic agent used in the chemotherapy of lymphoblastic leukaemia. The present work deals with production of extra-cellular Lasparaginase from marine actinomycetes, using submerged fermentation. Marine actinomycete Streptomyces associated with marine spongeCallyspongia diffusa was isolated using specific ISP medium. Sponge-associated Streptomyces was character...
متن کاملNew Furan and Cyclopentenone Derivatives from the Sponge-Associated Fungus Hypocrea Koningii PF04
Two new furan derivatives, hypofurans A and B (1 and 2), and three new cyclopentenone derivatives, hypocrenones A-C (3-5), along with seven known compounds (6-12), were isolated from a marine fungus Hypocrea koningii PF04 associated with the sponge Phakellia fusca. Among them, compounds 10 and 11 were obtained for the first time as natural products. The planar structures of compounds 1-5 were e...
متن کاملProducing drugs from marine sponges.
Marine sponges are potential sources of many unique metabolites, including cytotoxic and anticancer compounds. Natural sponge populations are insufficient or inaccessible for producing commercial quantities of metabolites of interest. This review focuses on methods of producing sponge biomass to overcome supply limitations. Production techniques discussed include aquaculture in the sea, the con...
متن کاملComplete genome sequence of the actinomycete Actinoalloteichus hymeniacidonis type strain HPA 177T isolated from a marine sponge
Actinoalloteichus hymeniacidonis HPA 177T is a Gram-positive, strictly aerobic, black pigment producing and spore-forming actinomycete, which forms branching vegetative hyphae and was isolated from the marine sponge Hymeniacidon perlevis. Actinomycete bacteria are prolific producers of secondary metabolites, some of which have been developed into anti-microbial, anti-tumor and immunosuppressive...
