Global dynamics of a cell mediated immunity in viral infection models with distributed delays

چکیده
In this paper, we investigate global dynamics for a system of delay differential equations which describes a virus-immune interaction in vivo. The model has two distributed time delays describing time needed for infection of cell and virus replication. Our model admits three possible equilibria, an uninfected equilibrium and infected equilibrium with or without immune response depending on the basic reproduction number for viral infection R0 and for CTL response R1 such that R1 < R0. It is shown that there always exists one equilibrium which is globally asymptotically stable by employing the method of Lyapunov functional. More specifically, the uninfected equilibrium is globally asymptotically stable if R0 ≤ 1, an infected equilibrium without immune response is globally asymptotically stable if R1 ≤ 1 < R0 and an infected equilibrium with immune response is globally asymptotically stable if R1 > 1. The immune activation has a positive role in the reduction of the infection cells and the increasing of the uninfected cells if R1 > 1.

متن کاملEvaluation of Cell Mediated Immunity following Rubella Vaccination Using Lymphocyte Proliferation
Background and Aims: Rubella is predominantly a childhood disease that is endemic throughout the world and when rubella outbreaks occur, they are accompanied by birth defects following congenital rubella syndrome. Immunity to rubella virus as a teratogenic agent has an important role for prevention of these serious congenital defects. Lymphocyte proliferation assay is a way for investigation of...
متن کاملGlobal Stability of an HIV-1 Infection Model with General Incidence Rate and Distributed Delays
In this work an HIV-1 infection model with nonlinear incidence rate and distributed intracellular delays and with humoral immunity is investigated. The disease transmission function is assumed to be governed by general incidence rate f(T, V)V. The intracellular delays describe the time between viral entry into a target cell and the production of new virus particles and the time between infectio...
متن کاملGlobal dynamics of a delayed within-host viral infection model with both virus-to-cell and cell-to-cell transmissions.
A within-host viral infection model with both virus-to-cell and cell-to-cell transmissions and three distributed delays is investigated, in which the first distributed delay describes the intracellular latency for the virus-to-cell infection, the second delay represents the intracellular latency for the cell-to-cell infection, and the third delay describes the time period that viruses penetrate...
متن کاملImpact of Intracellular Delays and Target-Cell Dynamics on In Vivo Viral Infections
The dynamics of an in-host model with general form of target-cell dynamics, nonlinear incidence, and distributed delay are investigated. The model can describe the in vivo infection dynamics of many viruses such as HIV-I, HCV, and HBV. We derive the basic reproduction number R0 for the viral infection and establish that the global dynamics are completely determined by the values of R0: if R0 ≤ ...
