Time topology for the self-organizing map
نویسنده
چکیده
Time information of the input data is used for evaluating the goodness of the Self-Organizing Map to store and represent temporal feature vector sequences. A new node neighborhood is defined for the map which takes the temporal order of the input samples into account. A connection is created between those two map nodes which are the best-matching units for two successive input samples in time. This results in the time-topology

The Time Adaptive Self Organizing Map for Distribution Estimation
The feature map represented by the set of weight vectors of the basic SOM (Self-Organizing Map) provides a good approximation to the input space from which the sample vectors come. But the timedecreasing learning rate and neighborhood function of the basic SOM algorithm reduce its capability to adapt weights for a varied environment. In dealing with non-stationary input distributions and changi...

The classification of fuzzy data is considered as the most challenging areas of data analysis and the complexity of the procedures has been obstacle to the development of new methods for fuzzy data analysis. However, there are significant advances in modeling systems in which fuzzy data are available in the field of mathematical programming. In order to exploit the results of the researches on ...
متن کاملEstimation of Missing Daily Precipitation and Runoff Using Self-Organizing Map (A Case Study: Mazandaran Province)
Expert aquatic designers face many problems; among these, in hydrology, defective occurrences in time-series can cause errors in the ultimate results of the study. This more often happens in the regions where the number of hydrometric and rain gauge stations is limited. In addition, assessing, developing and maintaining the use of water resources require accessible long-term and high-quality qu...
متن کاملThe Time-Organized Map Algorithm: Extending the Self-Organizing Map to Spatiotemporal Signals
The new time-organized map (TOM) is presented for a better understanding of the self-organization and geometric structure of cortical signal representations. The algorithm extends the common self-organizing map (SOM) from the processing of purely spatial signals to the processing of spatiotemporal signals. The main additional idea of the TOM compared with the SOM is the functionally reasonable ...
متن کاملParallel Manner and Twist Measurement for Self-Organizing Maps
This paper investigates a self-organizing map algorithm which is simultaneously given multiple inputs, and introduces a criterion of ordering process as the twist measurement for reference vectors in multidimensional array. The self-organizing algorithm and the criterion are termed the parallel self-organizing algorithm and the index of twist, respectively. The algorithm updates reference vecto...
