J un 2 00 6 Photon Spin , Zero - point Energy and Black - body Radiation
نویسنده
چکیده
A critical review of the obscure nature of the contribution of spin energy to the energy of the electromagnetic field is presented. It is proposed that the total energy of a photon hν comprises of kinetic and spin parts each equal to hν/2. Classical magnetic field is reinterpreted as angular momentum flux of photon fluid. The black-body radiation law is revisited in the light of new significance of the zero-point energy proposed here.

Photon orbital angular momentum: problems and perspectives
Electromagnetic fields can carry, besides energy, linear and angular momentum. The exchange of linear momentum with matter produces forces due to radiation pressure. That comet tails point away from the Sun because light carries linear momentum was first suggested by Kepler. A complete account of radiation pressure was developed by Poynting in 1905 in terms of electromagnetic linear momentum de...

The talk consists of three parts. " History " briefly describes the emergence and evolution of the concept of photon during the first two decades of the 20th century. " Mass " gives a short review of the literature on the upper limit of the photon's mass. " Charge " is a critical discussion of the existing interpretation of searches for photon charge. Schemes, in which all photons are charged, ...
متن کاملEvaluation of Breast Cancer Radiation Therapy Techniques in Outfield Organs of Rando Phantom with Thermoluminescence Dosimeter
Background: Given the importance of scattered and low doses in secondary cancer caused by radiation treatment, the point dose of critical organs, which were not subjected to radiation treatment in breast cancer radiotherapy, was measured. Objective: The purpose of this study is to evaluate the peripheral dose in two techniques of breast cancer radiotherapy with two energies. Methods: Eight diff...

The Effective One Body (EOB) formalism is an analytical approach which aims at providing an accurate description of the motion and radiation of coalescing binary black holes with arbitrary mass ratio. We review the basic elements of this formalism and discuss its aptitude at providing accurate template waveforms to be used for gravitational wave data analysis purposes.
متن کاملAn in-vivo study on the energy dependence of X-ray biological effectiveness
Background: The International Commission on Radiological Protection (ICRP) has attributed the same relative risk for X and gamma radiations of all energies. Several studies have proven that the biological effect of low energy photon is more than that of higher ones. The assessment of risks is important due to the wide use of low energy X-rays for mammography screening and other diagnostic appli...
