Cultural Integration in Europe: the Italian Context
نویسندگان
چکیده
We explore economic and cultural integration patterns for different immigrant groups in Italy, from first to second generations and across age cohorts. We produce descriptive statistics regarding the differences of immigrants with respect to natives in terms of education, employment, female participation rates, marriage, divorce, exogamous marriage rates, and completed fertility rates. Our analysis does not show evidence of slow integration patterns for immigrants into Italy, though inter-marriage rates between immigrants and natives are very low. Severe data limitations however suggest caution in the interpretation of these results. We are grateful to Tito Boeri for comments and to Eleonora Pierucci for excellent research assistance. *New York University, NBER, and IZA, [email protected] **La Sapienza University of Rome, EIEF and IZA, [email protected]

This paper aims at investigating the acquisition of Italian complex predicates by native speakers of Persian. Complex predication is not as pervasive a phenomenon in Italian as it is in Persian. Yet Italian native speakers use complex predicates productively; spontaneous data show that Persian learners of Italian seem to be perfectly aware of Italian complex predicates and use this familiar fea...
متن کاملRegional Incentives and Patient Cross-Border Mobility: Evidence from the Italian Experience
Background In recent years, accreditation of private hospitals followed by decentralisation of the Italian National Health Service (NHS) into 21 regional health systems has provided a good empirical ground for investigating the Tiebout principle of “voting with their feet”. We examine the infra-regional trade-off between greater patient choice (due to an increase in hospital services supply) an...
