Probability in physics: stochastic, statistical, quantum

چکیده

I review the role of probability in contemporary physics and the origin of probabilistic time asymmetry, beginning with the pre-quantum case (both stochastic mechanics and classical statistical mechanics) but concentrating on quantum theory. I argue that quantum mechanics radically changes the pre-quantum situation and that the philosophical nature of objective probability in physics, and of probabilistic asymmetry in time, is dependent on the correct resolution of the quantum measurement prob-

Analysis of Chain Reaction Between Two Stock Indices Fluctuations by Statistical Physics Systems

In this paper, we consider the statistical properties of chain reaction of stock indices. The theory of interacting systems and statistical physics are applied to describe and study the fluctuations of two stock indices in a stock market, and the properties of the interacting reaction of the two indices are investigated in the present paper. In this work, stochastic analysis and the two random ...

Non–commutative (quantum) Probability, Master Fields and Stochastic Bosonization

In this report we discuss some results of non–commutative (quantum) probability theory relating the various notions of statistical independence and the associated quantum central limit theorems to different aspects of mathematics and physics including: q–deformed and free central limit theorems; the description of the master (i.e. central limit) field in matrix models along the recent Singer su...

Quantum chromodynamics at high energy and statistical physics

When hadrons scatter at high energies, strong color fields, whose dynamics is described by quantum chromodynamics (QCD), are generated at the interaction point. If one represents these fields in terms of partons (quarks and gluons), the average number densities of the latter saturate at ultrahigh energies. At that point, nonlinear effects become predominant in the dynamical equations. The hadro...

Reply to "Comment on 'Why quantum mechanics cannot be formulated as a Markov process"'

In the paper with the above title, D. (1994)] claims that the theory of Markov stochastic processes cannot provide an adequate mathematical framework for quantum mechanics. In conjunction with the specific quantum dynamics considered there, we give a general analysis of the associated dichotomic jump processes. If we assume that Gillespie's " measurement probabilities " are the transition proba...

7 Is the Universe Noise Sensitive ? Gil

Noise sensitivity is a notion related to probability and statistical physics that came up in my work with Itai Benjamini and Oded Schramm [3], which introduced this notion and mainly studies the model of percolation. A similar notion arose in the work of Tsirelson and Vershik [19], whose motivation came from mathematical quantum physics and the construction of “non-Fock spaces.” Noise sensitivi...
