HP a-priori error estimates for a non-dissipative spectral discontinuous Galerkin method to solve the Maxwell equations in the time domain

چکیده
In this paper, we present the hp-convergence analysis of a nondissipative high-order discontinuous Galerkin method on unstructured hexahedral meshes using a mass-lumping technique to solve the time-dependent Maxwell equations. In particular, we underline the spectral convergence of the method (in the sense that when the solutions and the data are very smooth, the discretization is of unlimited order). Moreover, we see that the choice of a non-standard approximate space (for a discontinuous formulation) with the absence of dissipation can imply a loss of spatial convergence. Finally we present a numerical result which seems to confirm this property.

Optimal non-dissipative discontinuous Galerkin methods for Maxwell's equations in Drude metamaterials
Abstract. Simulation of electromagnetic wave propagation in metamaterials leads to more complicated time domain Maxwell’s equations than the standard Maxwell’s equations in free space. In this paper, we develop and analyze a non-dissipative discontinuous Galerkin (DG) method for solving the Maxwell’s equations in Drude metamaterials. Previous discontinuous Galerkin methods in the literature for...
متن کاملA spatial high-order hexahedral discontinuous Galerkin method to solve Maxwell's equations in time domain
In this paper, we present a non-dissipative spatial high-order discontinuous Galerkin method to solve the Maxwell equations in the time domain. The non-intuitive choice of the space of approximation and the basis functions induce an important gain for mass, stiffness and jump matrices in terms of memory. This spatial approximation, combined with a leapfrog scheme in time, leads also to a fast e...
متن کاملThe hp-local discontinuous Galerkin method for low-frequency time-harmonic Maxwell equations
The local discontinuous Galerkin method for the numerical approximation of the time-harmonic Maxwell equations in a low-frequency regime is introduced and analyzed. Topologically nontrivial domains and heterogeneous media are considered, containing both conducting and insulating materials. The presented method involves discontinuous Galerkin discretizations of the curl-curl and grad-div operato...
متن کاملError Estimates for a Discontinuous Galerkin Method with Interior Penalties Applied to Nonlinear Sobolev Equations
A Discontinuous Galerkin method with interior penalties is presented for nonlinear Sobolev equations. A semi-discrete and a family of fully-discrete time approximate schemes are formulated. These schemes are symmetric. Hp-version error estimates are analyzed for these schemes. For the semi-discrete time scheme a priori L∞(H 1) error estimate is derived and similarly, l∞(H 1) and l2(H 1) for the...
متن کاملDiscontinuous Galerkin discretizations of Optimized Schwarz methods for solving the time-harmonic Maxwell equations
We show in this paper how to properly discretize optimized Schwarz methods for the time-harmonic Maxwell equations using a discontinuous Galerkin (DG) method. Due to the multiple traces between elements in the DG formulation, it is not clear a priori how the more sophisticated transmission conditions in optimized Schwarz methods should be discretized, and the most natural approach does not lead...
