چکیده

This paper concerns the use of an object-oriented database for the analysis of protein sequences. We describe proteins either by bibliographic information or by prediction function such as Prosite patterns [2, 5]. We propose to use concept lattices|a tool used in information retrieval to build thesauruses|to classify protein sequences. This classi cation of proteins may help nding sequence alignments, or discussing about them. Conversely, sequence alignments can be used to criticize the structuration of sequences.

STED super-resolution microscopy reveals an array of MINOS clusters along human mitochondria.

The mitochondrial inner membrane organizing system (MINOS) is a conserved large hetero-oligomeric protein complex in the mitochondrial inner membrane, crucial for the maintenance of cristae morphology. MINOS has been suggested to represent the core of an extended protein network that controls mitochondrial function and structure, and has been linked to several human diseases. The spatial arrang...

Introduction of the transposable element Minos into the germ line of Drosophila melanogaster.

A transposon based on the transposable element Minos from Drosophila hydei was introduced into the genome of Drosophila melanogaster using transformation mediated by the Minos transposase. The transposon carries a wild-type version of the white gene (w) of Drosophila inserted into the second exon of Minos. Transformation was obtained by injecting the transposon into preblastoderm embryos that w...

Role of mitochondrial inner membrane organizing system in protein biogenesis of the mitochondrial outer membrane

Mitochondria contain two membranes, the outer membrane and the inner membrane with folded cristae. The mitochondrial inner membrane organizing system (MINOS) is a large protein complex required for maintaining inner membrane architecture. MINOS interacts with both preprotein transport machineries of the outer membrane, the translocase of the outer membrane (TOM) and the sorting and assembly mac...

Minos as a genetic and genomic tool in Drosophila melanogaster.

Much of the information about the function of D. melanogaster genes has come from P-element mutagenesis. The major drawback of the P element, however, is its strong bias for insertion into some genes (hotspots) and against insertion into others (coldspots). Within genes, 5'-UTRs are preferential targets. For the successful completion of the Drosophila Genome Disruption Project, the use of trans...

APOOL Is a Cardiolipin-Binding Constituent of the Mitofilin/MINOS Protein Complex Determining Cristae Morphology in Mammalian Mitochondria

Mitochondrial cristae morphology is highly variable and altered under numerous pathological conditions. The protein complexes involved are largely unknown or only insufficiently characterized. Using complexome profiling we identified apolipoprotein O (APOO) and apolipoprotein O-like protein (APOOL) as putative components of the Mitofilin/MINOS protein complex which was recently implicated in de...
