چکیده

Air segmented amplitude modulated multiplexed flow analysis (air segmented AMMFA) has been applied to the simultaneous determination of ammonium ions in water samples by an Indophenol Blue spectrophotometry. The flow rates of sample solutions to be merged are periodically varied at different frequencies. The merged solution, comprised of the sample solutions, coloring reagent solutions and water (diluent), is segmented by air bubbles so as to prevent the axial dispersion and thus to enhance the sensitivity. Both liquid and air segments are introduced to the flow cell of a UV/Vis detector and analytical signals at 660 nm are obtained. The signals corresponding to the air phase are removed by an in-house software. Thus deaerated signals are smoothed by a moving average computation and then analyzed by fast Fourier transform. The concentration of ammonium ion in each sample is determined from the amplitude of the corresponding wave component. Through the introductions of the air segmentation and the software-based phase recognition approaches, the sensitivity is increased maximally by a factor of 5.8 and lower detection limit (< 0.11 mg dm as N) is obtained compared with the previous non-segmented AMMFA. The proposed method has successfully been applied to the simultaneous determination of ammonium ions in real water samples.

Simultaneous determination of nitrite and nitrate ions by air-segmented amplitude-modulated multiplexed flow analysis.

The concept of amplitude-modulated multiplexed flow analysis has been extended to the simultaneous determination of multiple analytes in a sample. A sample solution containing nitrite and nitrate ions is delivered from two channels, but the flow rates are varied at different frequencies. One of the channels has a reduction column for converting nitrate ions to nitrite ions. Downstream, the abso...

Air-segmented amplitude-modulated multiplexed flow analysis.

Air-segmentation is applied to amplitude-modulated multiplexed flow analysis, which we proposed recently. Sample solutions, the flow rates of which are varied periodically, are merged with reagent and/or diluent solution. The merged stream is segmented by air-bubbles and, downstream, its absorbance is measured after deaeration. The analytes in the samples are quantified from the amplitudes of t...

Ultra-Trace Determination of Silver in Water, Soil and Radiology Film Samples Using Dispersive Liquid-Liquid Microextraction and Microvolume UV–Vis Spectrophotometry

In this research, a Dispersive Liquid-Liquid MicroExtraction (DLLME) method coupled to UV-vis spectrophotometry was developed for the indirect determination of silver ion. The method is based on the catalytic effect of the silver ion on the oxidation of congo red by potassium peroxodisulphate and extraction with DLLME procedure using chloroform (extraction solvent) containing cetyltrimethyl...

Ion Pair Dispersive Liquid-Liquid Microextraction for the Determination of Trace Amounts of Copper(II) in Soil, Multivitamin Tablet, Tea and Water Samples Using Flame Atomic Absorption Spectrometry

Ion pair dispersive liquid- liquid microextraction (IP-DLLME) method combined with flame atomic absorption spectrometry was proposed for the determination of trace amounts of copper(II). By using pyrocatechol violet as chelating agent and cetyltrimethyl ammonium bromide as an ion pairing agent, the trace amount of copper(II) was extracted in chloroform. The factors influencing the formation cop...
