Weighing neutrinos in the presence of a running primordial spectral index

چکیده
The three-year WMAP(WMAP3), combined with other cosmological observations from galaxy clustering and Type Ia Supernova (SNIa), prefers a non-vanishing running of the primordial spectral index independent of the low CMB multipoles. Motivated by this feature we study cosmological constraint on the neutrino mass, which severely depends on what prior we adopt for the spectral shape of primordial fluctuations, taking possible running into account. As a result we find a more stringent constraint on the sum of the three neutrino masses, mν < 0.76eV (2 σ), compared with mν < 0.90eV (2 σ) for the case where power-law prior is adopted to the primordial spectral shape.

Scale dependence of the primordial spectrum from combining the three-year WMAP, Galaxy Clustering, Supernovae, and Lyman-alpha forests
We probe the scale dependence of the primordial spectrum in the light of the three-year WMAP (WMAP3) alone and WMAP3 in combination with the other cosmological observations such as galaxy clustering and Type Ia Supernova (SNIa). We pay particular attention to the combination with the Lyman α (Lyα) forest. Different from the first-year WMAP (WMAP1), WMAP3’s preference on the running of the scala...

We use LUQAS, a sample of 27 high resolution high signal-to-noise UVES quasar (QSO) spectra (Kim et al. 2004), and the Croft et al. (2002) sample together with a set of high resolution large box size hydro-dynamical simulations run with the code GADGET-II to recover the linear dark matter power spectrum at z > 2 and at scales of 1− 40 h Mpc. These scales cannot be probed by any other observable...
متن کاملFormation of intermediate-mass black holes as primordial black holes in the inflationary cosmology with running spectral index
Formation of primordial black holes (PBHs) on astrophysical mass scales is a natural consequence of inflationary cosmology if the primordial perturbation spectrum has a large and negative running of the spectral index as observationally suggested today, because double inflation is required to explain it and fluctuations on some astrophysical scales are enhanced in the field oscillation regime i...
متن کاملConstraints on the Primordial Power Spectrum from High Resolution Lyman−α Forest Spectra and WMAP
The combined analysis of the cosmic microwave background on large scales and Lyman-α forest on small scales provides a sufficiently long lever arm to obtain strong constraints on the slope and curvature of the power spectrum of primordial density fluctuations. We present results from the combination of the first year WMAP data and the dark matter power spectrum inferred by Viel et al. (2004) fo...
متن کاملStrong Lensing Probabilities in a Cosmological Model with a Running Primordial Power Spectrum
The combination of the first-year Wilkinson Microwave Anisotropy Probe (WMAP) data with other finer scale cosmic microwave background (CMB) experiments (CBI and ACBAR) and two structure formation measurements (2dFGRS and Lyman α forest) suggest a ΛCDM cosmological model with a running spectral power index of primordial density fluctuations. Motivated by this new result on the index of primordia...
