چکیده

We present evidence from high resolution optical spectra for the presence of bipolar jets in the bright super soft X-ray source RX J0019.8+2156, the second such discovered case after RX J0513.9-6951. The jets seem to appear and disappear over a time scale of several months. No jet precession is observed. From the velocity separation of the emission lines produced by the jets a lower limit of ∼ 79◦ is posed to the orbital inclination. This gives support to the interpretation in terms of eclipses for the periodic features in the RX J0019.8+2156 lightcurve.

Infrared photometry and spectroscopy of the supersoft X - ray source RX J 0019 . 8 + 2156 ( = QR And )

We present JHK photometry and spectroscopy of RX J0019.8+2156. The spectrum appears to be dominated by the accretion disc to at least 2.4 μm, over any other source of emission. We find Paschen, Brackett and He II lines strongly in emission, but no He I. There are satellite lines approximately 850km s either side of the strongest, unblended hydrogen lines. These satellite lines may be the spectr...

Detailed optical studies of the galactic supersoft X - ray source QR And ( RX J 0019 . 8 + 2156 ) ?

We present high-speed long term photometric observations from 1992 to 1996 (UBVRI), as well as recently obtained (1997) spectrophotometric and high resolution spectroscopic studies of the bright galactic supersoft X-ray source RX J0019.8 +2156. Our photometry reveals a highly variable object. The shortest observed quasi-periodic variations are humps with a period of ≈1.8 h. The timings of the m...

On the secondary star of the galactic supersoft X-ray source RX J0925.7−4758 and Doppler tomography of the emission lines

We carried out optical spectroscopic observations of the galactic supersoft X-ray source RX J0925.7−4758. The relatively long orbital period among supersoft X-ray sources was confirmed. The nature of the secondary star is discussed using its invisibility in the optical spectrum. Under the hypothesis of a non-eclipsing white dwarf, we derived an A–G giant secondary with an inclination angle of 5...

The Short-time Variability of the Supersoft X-ray Source Rx J0019.8+2156

Optical observations of the galactic supersoft Xray source RX J0019.8+2156 reveal essential changes of the lightcurve from night to night. FromOctober to December 1996 time resolved UBVRI photometry was performed with the high speedmultichannelmulticolour photometerMCCP at the 80 cm telescope of the Wendelstein Observatory of the UniversitätsSternwarte München. To model these observations we co...

A&a Manuscript No. Optical Variability of the Supersoft Source Rx J0019.8+2156

We present a 100 yr optical lightcurve of the recently discovered supersoft X-ray source RX J0019.8+2156 as deduced from photographic plates of Harvard and Sonneberg Observatory. Apart from the periodic orbital variations two dierent timescales of optical variability are discovered. The timescales and amplitudes of this variability are discussed in the framework of the steady nuclear burning mo...
