چکیده
1. Introduction To meet the challenge of 3D-intergration in future ULSI, global wireless interconnection (interconnect distance above 300 µm) which utilizes electromagnetic wave transmission by using integrated antenna and ultra wideband (UWB) transceiver system has been proposed [1, 2] as shown in Fig. 1. Among the different techniques for UWB system, impulse radio based UWB uses very short Gaussian monocycle pulses (GMP) as transmitted signal. Since the GMP transmission does not require any carrier, the transceiver circuit will be simple and occupies small area as it does not require complex frequency recovery system. In this paper an impulse based UWB transmitter for wireless interconnect in future ULSI is presented. The transmitter output is on-off keying (OOK) modulated differential Gaussian monocycle pulse. The developed transmitter is implemented in 0.18µm CMOS. It occupies small area and consumes low power.

A CMOS three-stage ring oscillator is examined in UMC 0.13 μm and 0.18 μm technologies. The influence of PMOS transistor and resistor, as inverter feedbacks, on the ring oscillator frequency and the peak-to-peak amplitude is investigated in both technologies. Furthermore, as the ring oscillator usually drives a buffer in pulse generator/transmitter chain, dependence of its Figures of Merit on t...

In this paper, a very low power and low complexity all digital impulse radio ultra wideband (IR-UWB) transmitter is presented. The pulse repeating frequency (PRF) of the transmitted signal is controlled digitally, which complies with federal commission committee (FCC) regulations. In order to control the transmitted power the amplitude of transmitted signals is reduced by increasing the PRF. Th...

This paper presents a low power impulse-radio ultra-wideband (IR-UWB) receiver based on a reconfigurable, high speed analog correlator called distributed pulse correlator (DPC). The DPC incorporates built-in local template pulse generation, and hence significantly reduces the power consumption and circuit complexity of the analog correlation receiver. A chip prototype of the IR-UWB receiver was...
