چکیده

The spectral and scattering theory is investigated for a generalization, to scattering metrics on two-dimensional compact manifolds with boundary, of the class of smooth potentials on R which are homogeneous of degree zero near infinity. The most complete results require the additional assumption that the restriction of the potential to the circle(s) at infinity be Morse. Generalized eigenfunctions associated to the essential spectrum at noncritical energies are shown to originate both at minima and maxima, although the latter are not germane to the L spectral theory. Asymptotic completeness is shown, both in the traditional L sense and in the sense of tempered distributions. This leads to a definition of the scattering matrix, the structure of which will be described in a future publication.

Scattering for Symbolic Potentials of Order Zero and Microlocal Propagation near Radial Points

In this paper, the scattering and spectral theory of H = ∆g + V is developed, where ∆g is the Laplacian with respect to a scattering metric g on a compact manifold X with boundary and V ∈ C(X) is real; this extends our earlier results in the two-dimensional case. Included in this class of operators are perturbations of the Laplacian on Euclidean space by potentials homogeneous of degree zero ne...

THE EXTENDED LAW OF CORRESPONDING - STATES AND THE INTERMOLECULAR POTENTIALS FOR Ar-Ar, Ar-Kr AND Kr-Kr

An inversion procedure is used to obtain from the extended principle of corresponding - states the pair interaction potentials for argon, krypton and its mixture over a tetnperature range from absolute zero to the onset of ionization. The experimentally-reduced viscosity collision integrals obtained from the corresponding - states correlation have been inverted directly to give the reduced...

Spectral Finite Element Method for Free Vibration of Axially Moving Plates Based on First-Order Shear Deformation Theory

In this paper, the free vibration analysis of moderately thick rectangular plates axially moving with constant velocity and subjected to uniform in-plane loads is investigated by the spectral finite element method. Two parallel edges of the plate are assumed to be simply supported and the remaining edges have any arbitrary boundary conditions. Using Hamilton’s principle, three equations of moti...
