چکیده

Euler thresholding is a non-parametric dynamic thresholding method, useful for many computer vision tasks. It requires the calculation of a graph relating thresholds to Euler numbers and performing a Rosin unimodal threshold calculation on the graph. This report details how this can be done in time complexity O(N + T ) where N is the number of pixels in the image and T is the number of thresholds used.

Real-time thresholding with Euler numbers

The problem of finding an automatic thresholding technique is well known in applications involving image differencing like visual-based surveillance systems, autonomous vehicle driving, etc. Among the algorithms proposed in the past years, the thresholding technique based on the stable Euler number method is considered one of the most promising in terms of visual results. Unfortunately its high...

Efficient Beam Thresholding for Statistical Machine Translation

Beam thresholding is a widely-used pruning approach in decoding algorithms of statistical machine translation. In this paper, we propose two variations on the conventional beam thresholding, both of which speed up the decoding without degrading BLEU score. The first variation is the dynamic beam thresholding, in which the beam threshold varies with the length of source sequences covered by hypo...

Thresholding for Change Detection

Image differencing is used for many applications involving change detection. Although it is usually followed by a thresholding operation to isolate regions of change there are few methods available in the literature specific to (and appropriate for) change detection. We describe four different methods for selecting thresholds that work on very different principles. Either the noise or the signa...

TILTED EULER CHARACTERISTIC DENSITIES FOR CENTRAL LIMIT RANDOM FIELDS, WITH APPLICATION TO “BUBBLES” By N. Chamandy

Local increases in the mean of a random field are detected (conservatively) by thresholding a field of test statistics at a level u chosen to control the tail probability or p-value of its maximum. This p-value is approximated by the expected Euler characteristic (EC) of the excursion set of the test statistic field above u, denoted Eφ(Au). Under isotropy, one can use the expansion Eφ(Au) = ∑ k...
