NLN's role in continuing education in nursing.

Quality continuing education, therefore, is a direct outgrowth of the Mission and long-range goals of the NLN. It is defined as a personal educational experience, planned for individual growth and the ongoing development of knowledge and skills beyond basic preparation for a profession or occupation. Its objective is the continuous improvement of the individual's nursing practice (in whatever role that may be), professional development, and career growth. The National League for Nursing recognizes the positive relationship between the continuing education of health care providers and the delivery of quality care for patients/clients, as well as the relationship between the ongoing development of nurse educators and the delivery of quality nursing education.
