چکیده
LLE Review, Volume 135 173 Introduction Fast-electron generation in laser–plasma interactions has long been of interest for a variety of reasons, such as avoiding preheat during compression in inertial confinement fusion (ICF), heating the compressed core of an ICF target for fast ignition,1 generating a shock in an ICF target for shock ignition,2 and as a means to produce energetic secondary particles,3 such as protons4 and gamma rays.5,6

متن کاملLaser Evaporation as a Source of Small Free Radicals
It is shown that laser evaporation of a solid target followed by adiabatic expansion can be used to produce cold beams of neutral small open shell molecules. LIF is applied to detect Cull (X~S), CH (X2II), Sill (X2II), CuO (X2II), and FeO (XSA). A production of 109-+ ~ molecules/sr in a single pulse is obtained for Sill. For a copper target, the optical emission of the jet plume is discussed.
متن کاملK-shell ionization by antiprotons.
We present calculations for the impact-parameter dependence of K-shell ionization rates in p-Cu and in p-Ag collisions at various projectile energies. We show that the effect of the attractive Coulomb potential on the Rutherford trajectory and the antibinding effect caused by the negative charge of the antiproton result in a considerable increase of the ionization probability. Total ionization ...
متن کاملL-shell emission from high-Z solid targets by intense (1019W/cm2) irradiation with a 248nm laser
Effwient (1.2% yield) multikilovolt x-ray emission from Ba(L) (2.4 2.8A) and Gal(L) (1.7 – 2.1~) is produced by ultraviolet (248nm) laser-excited BaFz and Gd soIids. The high efficiency is attributed to an inner shell-selective collisional electron ejection. @ 1999OpticalSocietyof America OCIS codes: (300.6560) Spectroscopy, x-ray; (140.7240) UV, XUV, and X-ray lasers.
متن کاملAccurate Cross Sections for Microanalysis
To calculate the intensity of x-ray emission in electron beam microanalysis requires a knowledge of the energy distribution of the electrons in the solid, the energy variation of the ionization cross section of the relevant subshell, the fraction of ionizations events producing x rays of interest and the absorption coefficient of the x rays on the path to the detector. The theoretical predictio...
