Development of courseware for early school years‘ science education

Recent research in science education recommends the development of didactic resources that approach relations between Science, Technology and Society [STS] and articulate formal and non-formal educational contexts such as science museums and centres, the Internet and television. We consider it’s important to implement those recommendations through the use of ICT in science education. Therefore we are developing a didactic courseware about energy use and resources for early school years science education based on STS perspective and articulating formal and non-formal science education contexts, namely “Jardim da Ciência” (Science Garden) at University of Aveiro. This didactic courseware includes educational software and didactic guides for teacher and student that support the exploration of the software. The different stages of development of this courseware as well as some of its activities will be described in this paper.
