چکیده

The metastable H 3 1 state in the thorium monoxide (ThO) molecule is highly sensitive to the presence of a CP-violating permanent electric dipole moment of the electron (eEDM) [E. R. Meyer and J. L. Bohn, Phys. Rev. A 78, 010502 (2008)]. The magnetic dipole moment μH and the molecule-fixed electric dipole moment DH of this state are measured in preparation for a search for the eEDM. The small magnetic momentμH = 8.5(5) × 10−3 μB displays the predicted cancellation of spin and orbital contributions in a 3 1 paramagnetic molecular state, providing a significant advantage for the suppression of magnetic field noise and related systematic effects in the eEDM search. In addition, the induced electric dipole moment is shown to be fully saturated in very modest electric fields (<10 V/cm). This feature is favorable for the suppression of many other potential systematic errors in the ThO eEDM search experiment.

Microscopic Parameters in the Excited State of Toluene and Some of Its Haloderavatives

The Ultraviolet-visible (UV) spectra of toluene, ortho-bromo and para-bromo toluene in different solvents have been studied. The electric dipole moments and polarizabilities in the molecular excited electronic states were determined. It was found that the electric dipole moments for the excited states (µ*) and the ground states (µ) of these compounds are equal, and the change in dipole moment i...

Electric-Field-Induced Triplet to Singlet Transition in Size-2 Trigonal Zigzag Graphene Nanoflake

Using Hartree-Fock Su-Sheriffer-Heeger (HF-SSH) model, we have studied the dependence of the energies of the ground (magnetic triplet state) and the first exited (nonmagnetic singlet state) states of the size-2 trigonal zigzag graphene nanoflake (size-2 NF) on the intensity of an external in plane static electric field at zero temperature. We identify a transition from the magnetic triplet stat...

Discrete Symmetries on the Light Front and a General Relation Connecting Nucleon Electric Dipole and Anomalous Magnetic Moments

We consider the electric dipole form factor, F3(q ), as well as the Dirac and Pauli form factors, F1(q ) and F2(q ), of the nucleon in the light-front formalism. We derive an exact formula for F3(q ) to complement those known for F1(q ) and F2(q ). We derive the light-front representation of the discrete symmetry transformations and show that time-reversaland parity-odd effects are captured by ...

Electric Dipole Moment of Magnetic Monopole

The electric dipole moment of a magnetic monopole with spin is studied in the N = 2 supersymmetric gauge theory. Dipole moments of electric charge distributions, as well as dipole moments due to magnetic currents, are calculated. The contribution of the charge distribution of the fermion to the gyroelectric ratio is expressed in terms of ζ(3).
