S. G., male, aged 26 years, of average health, a gatekeeper by occupation, was given a dose of combined carbon tetrachloride and oil of chenopodium, 40 minims and 20 minims respectively, thoroughly shaken in an ounce of water, on an empty stomach on the morning of the 2nd November, 1932, followed two hours after by an ounce of saturated solution of magnesium sulphate. He was kept under observation for the rest of the day during which time he passed two liquid motions and showed no signs of discomfort such as nausea, vomiting, giddiness and drowsiness as are occasionally found in some patients.
