چکیده
This workshop was sponsored by AIM and the NSF and it brought in participants from the US, Canada and the European Union to Palo Alto, CA to work to translate questions from quantum computing, complexity theory, statistical learning theory, signal processing, and data analysis to problems in geometry and representation theory. In all these areas, varieties in spaces of tensors that are invariant under linear changes of coordinates appear as central objects of study. Despite their different origins, there are striking similarities among the relevant varieties. We studied questions such as finding defining equations, hidden symmetries, and singularities. The AIM workshop was preceded by a graduate student workshop at MSRI on “Geometry and Representation Theory of Tensors for Computer Science, Statistics, and other areas,” which was organized by Landsberg, Lim, and Morton. One goal of this workshop was to introduce the basic tools from geometry and representation theory which are used in studying problems that come up in these other areas. About half of the participants attended both workshops. At AIM, the mornings were devoted to introductory talks given by L. Valiant, P. Comon, G. Gour, J.-Y. Cai, L. De Lathauwer, and J. Morton. In the afternoons the work focused on the following 4 areas, however many participants worked with more than one group.

Markovian Term Structure Models in Discrete Time
In this article we discuss Markovian term structure models in discrete time and with continuous state space. More precisely, we are concerned with the structural properties of such models if one has the Markov property for a part of the forward curve. We investigate the two cases where these parts are either a true subset of the forward curve, including the short rate, or the entire forward cur...
متن کاملAnalytic bond pricing for short rate dynamics evolving on matrix Lie groups
Diffusion processes on manifolds and compact Lie groups have attracted significant attention in finance as they exhibit nonlinear and boundedness properties that make them suitable for the modeling of interest rates, cf. [3], [9]. For example, within the framework of the Heath-Jarrow-Morton (HJM) interest rate model, it is shown (cf. [7]) that one can characterize finite-dimensional HJM models ...

متن کاملUtilization of CHB Multilevel Inverter for Harmonic Reduction in Fuzzy Logic Controlled Multiphase LIM Drives
Background and Objectives: Despite superior privileges that multiphase motors offer in comparison with their three-phase counterparts, in the field of multiphase linear induction motors (LIMs) few studies have been reported until now. To combine the advantages of both multiphase motors and linear induction motors, this paper concentrates on multiphase LIM drives considering the end effects. Met...
