Fluorescently tagged polymer bioconjugates from protein derived macroinitiators.

چکیده
BSA and lysozyme have been transformed into macroinitiators for living radical polymerisation and used to produce well-defined bioconjugates which can be fluorescently labelled providing a versatile strategy for the preparation of bioconjugates which is complementary to traditional PEGylation.

Recent developments in atom transfer radical polymerization initiators for development of polymer-protein bioconjugates
Article info: Received: 23 January 2013 Accepted: 5 February 2013 ABSTRACT One of the major challenges in modern synthetic polymer chemistry is to synthesize end defined polymers of different end functionality with predetermined uniform molecular weight. End functionalized polymers/copolymers basically in block and grafting form are having several potential applications in biomedical areas in t...
متن کاملConstruction of polymer-protein bioconjugates with varying chain topologies: polymer molecular weight and steric hindrance effects.
We report on the fabrication of well-defined polymer-protein bioconjugates with varying chain architectures, including star polymers, star block copolymers, and heteroarm star copolymers through the specific noncovalent interaction between avidin and biotinylated synthetic polymer precursors. Homopolymer and diblock precursors site-specifically labeled with a single biotin moiety at the chain t...
متن کاملPreparation of Thermo-responsive Polymer Gels Immobilizing Core- Shell Type Bioconjugayes
Immobilization of enzymes is interesting research topic from both fundamental and applied aspects, and various kinds of immobilization methods including chemical and physical procedures have been actively investigated, e.g. the chemical conjugation of enzyme with water-soluble polymers and the physical entrapment into polymer gel matrix (1-5). The advantages of enzyme-immobilization were improv...
متن کاملEffect of polymer chemistry on globular protein–polymer block copolymer self-assembly
The MIT Faculty has made this article openly available. Please share how this access benefits you. Your story matters. Bioconjugates of the model red fluorescent protein mCherry and synthetic polymer blocks with different hydrogen bonding functionalities show that the chemistry of the polymer block has a large effect on both ordering transitions and the type of nanostructures formed during bioc...
متن کاملProtein polymer drag-tags for DNA separations by end-labeled free-solution electrophoresis.
We demonstrate the feasibility of end-labeled free-solution electrophoresis (ELFSE) separation of DNA using genetically engineered protein polymers as drag-tags. Protein polymers are promising candidates for ELFSE drag-tags because their sequences and lengths are controllable not only to generate monodisperse polymers with high frictional drag, but also to meet other drag-tag requirements for h...
