Micro-pulse Stimulation

چکیده
This paper deals with a new electrotherapeutic method for use in physiatric treatment. The micro-pulse stimulation is based on the combination of three electrotherapeutic methods: burst therapy, high-voltage pulsed current therapy, and microelectrostimulation. Micro-pulse stimulation is special for its unusual configuration of pulse parameters; high-voltage electric pulses are safely used as a result of a cumulative effect of the subthreshold monophasic pulses with a very short duration. This combination of parameters should connect the advantages of used methods. This includes an analgesic effect without any obvious adaptation of the stimulated tissue and making the tissue penetration easier. As the micro-pulse stimulation was designed especially for the treatment of swelling and pain in animal therapy, the device is small, portable, battery-operated and easy to use.

متن کاملRole of adenosine receptors and protein phosphatases in the reversal of pentylenetetrazol-induced potentiation phenomenon by theta pulse stimulation in the CA1 region of rat hippocampal slices
The effect of theta pulse stimulation (TPS) on pentylenetetrazol (PTZ)-induced long-term potentiation of population spikes (PS) was studied in the hippocampal CA1 in vitro. A transient PTZ application produced a long-lasting enhancement of PS amplitude. A 3-min episode of TPS delivered at a higher intensity produced complete reversal of the PTZ potentiation when delivered during the last minute...
متن کاملENDOGENOUS RELEASE OF OPIATES BY REPETITIVE ELECTRICAL FIELD STIMULATION IN THE GUINEA-PIG AND RAT ILEAL LONGITUDINAL MUSCLE
The effect of repetitive electrical field stimulation and the response of the guinea-pig and rat ileal longitudinal muscle to single pulse stimulations was examined. Single pulse field stimulation produced twitch contraction which was inhibited by repetitive field stimulation (10 Hz, 40V, 0.5 msec for 5 m). This inhibition was largely, though never completely, reversed by naloxone. Contrac...

Repetitive contraction of cultured muscle tubes has been controlled in vitro with periodical electrical stimulation. C2C12 (Mouse myoblast cell line) was cultured with High-glucose Dulbecco’s Modified Eagle’s Medium on a dish to make muscle tubes. Differentiation was induced with horse serum. Repetitive contraction of the tube was generated by electric pulses through electrodes of platinum, and...
