چکیده

Basic methods for the determination of internal electrical field in a-Si:H solar cells, derived from the standard Time of Flight (TOF) technique, are presented. One of these methods, based on charge collection, is very attractive; is is particularly simple, does not need high time resolution and is insensitive to the transport dispersion. It allows characterisation of the internal electrical over the whole thickness of the i-layer when bifacial p-i-n a-Si:H solar cells are used. Use and limits of this specific method are presented and discussed. Furthermore, some examples of field engineering in p-i-n are shown.

DEGRADATION OF A-SI:H SOLAR CELLS: NEW EVIDENCE FOR A BULK EFFECT - Photovoltaic Energy Conversion, 1994., Conference Record of the Twenty Fourth ; IEEE Photovoltaic

Well defined sequences of non-uniform and uniform degradation steps are applied on several high quality bifacial p-i-n solar cells with different thicknesses of the intrinsic layer. This procedure allows one to separate interface and bulk effects in the degradation of a-Si:H solar cells, or more precisely to separate the influence of the modification of the internal electric field profile (due ...

Data supporting the role of electric field and electrode material on the improvement of the ageing effects in hydrogenated amorphous silicon solar cells

Hydrogenated amorphous Si (a-Si:H) solar cells are strongly affected by the well known Staebler-Wronski effect. This is a worsening of solar cell performances under light soaking which results in a substantial loss of cell power conversion efficiency compared to time zero performance. It is believed not to be an extrinsic effect, but rather a basic phenomenon related to the nature of a-Si:H and...

Spectral matching and outdoor solar to electrical conversion efficiency in thin-film silicon multi- junction solar cells

Semi-empirical computer modelling is used to investigate spectral matching in tandem and triple-junction thin film silicon solar cells. In amorphous/microcrystalline silicon (a-Si:H/μc-Si:H) tandem cells, current mis-match is offset by an increase in fill-factor, resulting in a broad peak in efficiency versus average photon energy. For a-Si:H/a-Si:H tandem cells, photo-generated currents in bot...

Impacts of Nanoparticles and Nano Rod Arrays on Optical Generation Rate in Plasmonic-Based Solar Cells

In this article, the effect of plasmonics properties of metal nanorods and nanoparticles on solar cell performance were investigated and simulated. Due to the classic solar cell disadvantages, it seems that a plasmonic solar cell is one of these methods. In plasmonic solar cells, because of plasmonic effect, a high electric field builds around metal nanoparticles so that high conversion efficie...

Enhanced optical absorption in organic solar cells using metal nano particles

In this study, for increasing absorption of the active layer in bulk hetero junction (BHJ) organic solar cells (OSCs) we used surface Plasmon effects of metal nano particles (MNPs). We embedded the MNPs inside the active layer and studied the device structure. For shown the results we investigated the model of our structure with Finite Difference Time Domain (FDTD) numerical method and achieved...
