Nature of the vasodilator and vasoconstrictor receptors in skeletal muscle of the dog.

چکیده
Femomi blood flow and arterial pressure l-esponses to stimulation of the lumbar sympathetic chain at L3, L4 and L5 were compared with i-esponses to intm-arterial injections of 1-epinephrine and 1-norepinephrine before and after progressively increasing levels of adrenergic blockade, and after atropine. The vasoconstrictor i-esponses to nerve stimulation resembled most closely those caused by 1-norepinephrine injections at all levels of blockade. Atropine blocked the dilator responses to sympathetic nerve stimulation and reduced reversal responses to 1-norepinephrine injections but hurl no effect on the dilator responses to 1-epinephrine. It is concluded that, in skeletal muscle, there are three types of vasoreceptors under autonomic control. Two of these, one constrictor and one dilator, are innervated; the third, a dilator receptor, is only under hormonal control.

Activation of sympathetic vasodilator and vasoconstrictor neurons by electric stimulation in the medulla of the dog and cat.
Electric stimulation in the ventrolateral area of the medulla elicited vasodilation in skeletal muscles, and vasoconstriction in the skin and intestines. The vasodilation was accredited to activity in the cholinergic sympathetic vasodilator outflow previously shown to originate in the motor cortex of the dog. The possible functional significance of the vasodilator fibers in regulating muscle bl...

متن کاملEndothelial Vasodilator Angiotensin Receptors are Changing in Mice with Ageing
Background: The vascular function of Angiotensin II-type-2 receptors in adults is controversial. We sought their location and function in mouse aortic rings at young and old mice. Materials and Methods: Male C57Bl mice (aged 4 and 14 months) were killed by CO2. The descending thoracic aorta was cleaned and dissected into rings. Aortic rings were mounted in Krebs’ solution at 37 °C an...
متن کاملComparative Effects of Metformin and Glibenclamide on Aortic Reactivity to Vasodilator and Vasoconstrictor Agents in STZ-Induced Diabetic Rats
Background: Diabetes is an important risk factor for cardiovascular events. Endothelial dysfunction is the main reason cause of disability and death in diabetic patients and death. The present study investigates the effects of metformin and glibenclamide on vasoconstrictive and vasodilative responses in the diabetic rat aorta. Methods: Rats were divided into four experimental groups (con...
متن کاملAdenosine and muscle vasodilatation in acute systemic hypoxia.
Adenosine is released by skeletal and cardiac muscles when their metabolism increases: it serves to couple O2 supply with O2 demand by causing vasodilatation. This review argues that adenosine plays a similar role in skeletal muscle in systemic hypoxia. It accounts for approximately 50% of the increase in muscle vascular conductance and, within muscle, it causes dilatation of individual arterio...
